Pop-up shops and cafes are huge hits in Japan. Who doesn’t want to eat an omelet shaped and decorated like Pikachu’s face? And if you’re in the Tokyo area, one cafe that has collaborations to bring you cute desserts, drinks, and merchandise is none other than the Q-pot Cafe. Located in Shibuya near Omotesando, this cafe is all about having a “sweet and fancy time.” Q-pot cafe is well-known for its sweets, unique rooms, and collaborations with franchises such as Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Doraemon.

Cost of Admission	Guests reserve and pay for the room and seats they want as well as their dessert and drink selection at the time of reservation online. The average prices run between ￥2,000 (roughly $20) to ￥4,000 (roughly $40) for a dessert and drink. Typically, the dessert with a plate set will run about ￥4,000 while parfait with a drink and special coaster runs at about ￥2,500 (roughly $25). Specialty collaboration goods are also for sale.

The Experience

When a collaboration event, such as Sailor Moon, is going on, the Q-pot Cafe lightly decorates in the theme and displays limited edition or special merchandise for sale. As customers can choose where to sit and what they’ll have before coming, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff tends to all of your needs. As Q-pot believes that “food is the way to connect all over the world,” customers who can’t speak Japanese can feel comfortable as some staff does speak English.

Photography is highly encouraged at Q-pot cafe as the cafe itself has a large following on Instagram and Twitter. Oftentimes there are even cut-outs of the featured anime characters which customers can take photos with. With the different concept rooms, such as the Sakura room, Chocolate room, and Macaron room, customers have a wide variety of highly photogenic areas to take pictures of their food and merchandise in. Even if the current collaboration isn’t one of your all-time favorite anime, you can still order off their regular menu which is still extremely cute and quite tasty.

Final Thoughts

While the price may be slightly higher compared to other specialty cafes, you’re paying for the experience of a cute atmosphere, unique desserts, and a chance to see and even purchase some limited edition goods. Even if you don’t have interest in Sailor Moon, you can still enjoy a nice parfait and have a relaxing time with friends. If Pokemon is your thing, keep an eye out for upcoming collaborations and snag yourself a seat as soon as you can. Q-pot isn’t a well-known anime cafe, but if you time it just right, you can have a really nice time.
