What You Need to Know:
- Today, the director for what is possibly the biggest anime for 2017, Kemono Friends, has aired his displeasure at being forcibly removed from the series. In a tweet which has garnered over 283,000 retweeets, he announced that he has been removed from the series and that the decision did not come from him nor the studio, but from Kadokawa, the publishing giant, themselves.
- Very visibly upset, he announced it on twitter saying that he was completely let down and disappointed in how it has become this way.
- Kemono Friends was incredibly popular while it was on air among otaku, but then it got a second wind when it was re-aired over the summer aimed at children with a new opening. Children ate it up immediately and once again, the series was a hot topic. This led to the series announcing that a new smartphone game could be coming, a stage play, a new special 12.1 episode, and more. What are your thoughts on this change?
Something tells me that he might have had a different plan for the series than what Kadokawa wanted.
This is terrible news! He did a great job of making this a juggernaut.
