What You Need to Know:
- Funimation Films have announced that they will be opening Makoto Shinkai's internationally-acclaimed anime movie Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) in North American theaters on April 7 2017. During the film’s Oscar qualifying run last December, the anime's screenings sold out.
- The movie will be made available in both English dubbed and English subbed versions. Japanese band RADWIMPS, who produced Your Name's soundtrack and score, will also be translating their songs into English for the dubbed version of the film.
- Kimi no Na wa has seen huge international success since its premiere, quickly becoming the second highest-grossing Japanese animated movie released in Japan and the fourth highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan. It is also up for Best Animated Feature category at the 89th Annual Academy Awards.
