Synopsis
In a curious turn of events, dull high schooler Hiro Yuuki gets his hands on a copy of the full dive RPG, Kiwame Quest. Created using the latest cutting-edge technology, the game lives up to its claims of taking “reality to its extremes,” from stunning graphics and impressive NPC behavior, to the scent of plants and trees, and even the sensation of wind brushing against your skin—everything has been executed with flawless workmanship.
Except for the fact that the game is too real and annoyingly impossible to beat. It uses the physical abilities of the players in the real world and has more than 10 quadrillion flags! Getting hit in the game also hurts in real life and if you get slashed with a sword, your wounds take several days to heal. It’s the most realistic game in history!
The only reward is the mere sense of accomplishment you get after completing a quest. Even though this game is not for casual players and is the most stressful game ever, Hiro vows to conquer it.
Characters & Voice Actors
Hiroshi Yuki (Hiro): Daiki Yamashita
A high school student who loves VRMMO (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online) games. One day he goes out to buy a new game but is tricked by Reona into getting the controversial game, Kiwame Quest. He starts playing the game and really gets into it. Hiro has good reflexes and was a promising track and field athlete in junior high school, but due to a certain incident he ended up quitting the team.
Reona Kisaragi: Ayana Taketatsu
The manager of a rundown game shop. She is a beautiful woman with silvery hair and exceptional style. She hustles Hiro into buying a copy of Kiwame Quest. She is extremely enthusiastic about beating the game; so much that she plays the game together with Hiro as his support character.
Alicia: Fairouz Ai
Hiro’s childhood friend within Kiwame Quest. A cute and quiet girl who cares for Hiro and her brother Martin. She is very worried about Hiro leaving the town of Ted.
Mizalisa: Shiori Izawa
A cute, beautiful girl with red hair in pigtails who works in the town of Ted as an inquisitor. She has a special fondness for Hiro.
Kaede Yuki: Aoi Koga
Hiro’s younger sister in the real world. She’s a junior high school student who used to love bragging about her brother. However, after a certain incident, she began to rant about him and talk to him abusively. They are currently not on good terms.
Martin: Haruki Ishiya
Hiro’s best friend in Kiwame Quest. A pleasant young man with a good physique. He works at an apple orchard and has a habit of saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Just like his sister, Alicia, he is seriously worried about Hiro leaving the town.
Ginji: Katsuyuki Konishi
One of the few real players in Kiwame Quest. He looks like a dirty, drunken old man but in his youth he did judo and was particularly good at performing choking techniques.
Tesla: Satoshi Hino
One of the strongest NPCs (Non-Player Characters) in Kiwame Quest. He is the captain of the guards in the starting town of Ted. His nickname is “Tesla the Thunderer.”
Souichiro Kamui (Kamui): Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
A young member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly with a promising future. He was once a remarkably skilled full dive RPG gamer and is the only person who has beaten Kiwame Quest. His character’s name is Kamui.
