Synopsis

Arata Miyako was supposed to be your average civil servant who was sent to work at the Ward Office of Shinjuku Ward. He went to work for the Department of Regional Midnight Exchange which is something that none of the workers in any of the 23 Wards of Tokyo know about. The work there is so solve the occult phenomena that occur with humans present. Together with his senior and section leader, Kyouichi Sakaki, he brings the occult aficionado Seo Himezuka along night by night to confront the beings that go beyond human and science.

Arata is a new member of the Department of Regional Midnight Exchange and is 22 years-old. He didn't believe in anything supernatural, but he did very well on the entrance exam for the company and ended up being set to the department. Without realizing it, he starts to acquire the special ability ‘ear of sand’.

Kyouichi Sakaki

Voice Actor: Tomoaki Maeno

Kyouichi is the leader of Department of Regional Midnight Exchange at the Shinjuku Ward Office. He is 28 years-old and loves women and alcohol. He’s a former host, but now he is trying to work earnestly. Something that happened to him 10 years ago still haunts him and he seems to be bearing a deep sadness within him...

Seo Himezuka

Voice Actor: Miyu Irino

Seo is also a member of the same department and is 38 years-old. They are a Brit who is often mistaken for a woman due to their androgynous looks. Their life work is a collection of ancient magical texts and a collection of samples and data from anothers. They are also fully devoted to inventing anti-another items.

Reiji Senda

Voice Actor: Kouji Yusa

Reiji is another member of the same department and is 37 years old. He joined at the same time as Seo. He recommended that Arata just pick the answers that he liked on the entrance exam. He was scouted by Kyouichi for the department.

Satoru Kanoichi

Voice Actor: Takahiro Sakurai

Satoru is a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Bureau for the Environment of Midnight Culture. It is said that Satoru is from a long line of diviners who are rumored to have a massive amount of money at their disposal to get their hands on magical texts both western and eastern. He is known as someone who has mixed both British mysticism and Japanese divination making a name for himself.
