What You Need to Know:
- You might have heard of AKB48 as they are the mega girl group in Japan commanding large sales fueled by fans purchasing thousands of copies and sometimes even spending their life savings on a single just to get a handshake event ticket. They, and their multiple sister groups, are produced by Yasushi Akimoto.
- His newest iteration is the foray into digital world of idols with the newest group 22/7 pronounced in Japanese as Nana Bun no Nijyuuni. This series is akin to the Love Live! franchise but a little bit different. The singers all voice the characters, but the production also directly protrays them as real individuals. So it's a mix of 2D girls and 3D girls to make the ultimate idol group. Supposedly.
- The series also announced yesterday at their first live event that Nana Bun no Nijuuni has been greenlit for an anime adapatation. No major information has come out other than this, and a lyric video for their first single, "Boku wa Sonzai Shiteinakatta" (I did not exist) where you can see each of the real girls transform into their 2D selves. Most likely, this is a move to be able to get the name of 22/7 out there for not only domestic fans, but also international fans as well when the anime is licensed. Check out the video below and let us know what you think!
