This anime's first episodes went better than expected, especially because we got to see not only Catarina's story but also a lot of background scenes involving the rest of the cast. Sure, we experience how Catarina's personality changes when this girl realizes she's in the body of one of the characters of her favorite otome game, but also all romanceable characters and rivals get a decent introduction, making them all more interesting. Another thing we liked is how the story begins with Catarina being a child, taking enough time to build something before showing us how the story of the Fortune Lover game unfolds.

So far, My Next Life as a Villainess proved to be a funny take on isekai, making good use of comedy while presenting us with several characters that are not exactly what they should. Isn't it fun to learn how things should go, and then compare it to what's actually happening thanks to Catarina's plan? That being said, we still don't know if she'll be able to cheat the game (and destiny) or who will end up being his/her lover, so that's reason enough to keep watching this anime!
