Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) is one of the most internationally famous anime of the late 2010s, and its iconic characters and style are recognisable to any otaku. Finally, after several years of popularity in the anime world, the series is coming to a close. And of course, Japan is marking the final season with a collaboration cafe!
With food, drinks, and merchandise inspired by Shingeki no Kyojin’s story and characters, the Shingeki no Kyojin at Animate Cafe is a great way to celebrate the end of a legacy in the anime world.
With locations in Tokyo and Nagoya, the cafe will be accessible to otaku across two regions of Japan. Whether you’re able to go or just dreaming of a trip, let’s have a look at what the Shingeki no Kyojin is going to offer!

The Experience
The Shingeki no Kyojin cafe will have a nice selection of main dishes, desserts, and drinks all inspired by the anime and it’s characters. Let’s start with the savoury foods first. There are four different dishes to choose from - a large portion of hamburg steak, potatoes, and white stew meant to be reminiscent of Eren’s mum’s cooking, uniquely Japanese curry pasta, and white stew and bread serving as breakfast for Levi’s squad. Then there’s our personal favourite; Wall Maria curry, which features a “wall” of white rice surrounded by Thai green curry, with Japanese curry in the centre, along with a Wall Maria edible sigil.
Once you’ve had your main dish, it’s on to desserts and drinks! The first is inspired by Armin’s dream of seeing the ocean someday and is a sea-themed pudding, the next is Historia’s childhood dessert of cake, and finally the last is simply titled “Eren vs Bertholdt” and is mysteriously a slice of fruit pie between pictures of those two characters. At least it makes for a nice photo on your social media! There are also four drinks to choose from. The first is intimidating named “Eren’s Death Drink” but looks like a fruit juice mix, the next is soda jelly that you can add juice to with a syringe, then there’s Connie’s matcha latte, and finally Hanji’s experimental drink which looks like a science kit and lets you mix your own drink!
Drinks and food at Animate Cafe always come with a free, random coaster as well that you can take home and collect. Sometimes you can even trade with other people at the cafe if they have your favourite character so don’t be afraid to ask!
As you can likely imagine, Animate Cafe has hosted a lot of Shingeki no Kyojin collaboration cafes over the past several years. Thus, the menu for this particular cafe made for the anime’s final season is made up of some of the most popular dishes and drinks from past cafes! That means that fans have a chance to enjoy a favourite again, or try that one dish they saw on Twitter a few years ago but never got to have for themselves. It’s not something that Animate Cafe often does, so it’s really a special celebration of Shingeki no Kyojin’s success over the years and finally reaching its epic conclusion.
Additional info
When it comes to Animate Cafe, it’s always better to make a reservation in advance rather than be potentially disappointed. You can conveniently make a reservation right on the website, choosing the time and date that you want to reserve. Just be aware that you should reserve the spot under the name that matches you ID, as the staff may check your ID when you come to the cafe. If you like living more spontaneously, Animate Cafe does accept walk-ins, but only when there is available space. It’s better to try on a weekday, especially in the afternoon, if this is your plan!
We talked about the food and free gifts, but there is also going to be exclusive merchandise to be had! And what better way to celebrate the final season of Shingeki no Kyojin than with some great goods?! While the exact items haven’t been released yet, we can take a guess based on past cafes that there’s likely to be can badges, acrylic figures, and keychains at the very least - and they might well be special designs made exclusively for the cafe. We are also keeping our fingers crossed for some other unique goods like mini posters, file folders and other stationary, too! If you’re a collector, keep your eyes on the cafe’s website and Twitter in the days leading up to the cafe opening.
Final Thoughts
Just because Shingeki no Kyojin is coming to an end doesn’t mean we have to stop celebrating and enjoying it! And a great way to create a memory of this last season is a trip to the Shingeki no Kyojin Animate Cafe. If you’ve been to the past Animate Cafe collaborations it’s a final chance to get a favourite dish again, and if you’ve never gone it’s your opportunity to try these foods and drinks before they’re gone for good! And you can snag some great merchandise, too, which will last a lot longer than the food will. Even if you can’t make it to the cafes themselves, we hope you can enjoy seeing some pictures of what’s available and taking a virtual trip with your imagination.
