Rei Hiroe.... Oh! He made Black Lagoon! did you know that Rei Hiroe is actually a very accomplished doujinshi artist as well?
honey-happy1 Re:CREATORS - Spring & Summer Anime 2017
Rei is back in action. This is an original series eh? It feels slightly like Bubuki Buranki, but we know this will far exceed it!
honey-happy1 Re:CREATORS - Spring & Summer Anime 2017
True. Re:CREATORS looks like he has inverted the 'another world' stereotype where the characters that would normally belong in another world where the MC goes, are now in the real world. Hmm so gods are fighting among humans. There are so many genres coming at me that I am not sure where to touch on first.

True. Gods among humans.... Noragami? Kamisama Hajimemashita? I mean really there are so many to choose from and they will probably only be so close to this work!

Synopsis

People create many stories with their own hands.

Joy, sadness, anger, passion.

Stories move people emotionally, fascinate them.

However, these are merely the impressions of an onlooker.

If the characters in said stories had their own will, would that make us who gave them life gods?

A revolution is happening in their world. Punishment in the land of the gods.

Re:CREATORS: every one of us can become a creator.

Three Episode Impression

This is one of the new shows that you will definitely want to keep a tab on this season. In terms of animation and story, this anime is one of the top contenders. It is absolutely gorgeous to watch and starts off with a pretty strong foundation for the plot. It also gets bonus points for portraying the thoughts and desires that artists and writers consistently face when creating any type of work. Admittedly, this focus on ‘creators’ is a double-sided blade. In some moments, it adds a certain intricacy, while at other moments it slows down the show immensely. That aside, the first few episodes, as well as the intro, give you a pretty strong idea of what is going to happen in the story. Four ‘fictional’ characters are just trying to get on with their lives and find a way back home, while the other four want to rewrite their stories through some means of coercion with their creators. The exciting part is clearly seeing how these characters will clash.

What’s particularly nice about the third episode, is that it ends off with a question mark between the role of Souta and Gunpuku no Himegimi (the mysterious army mage who is orchestrating these events). Questions of fate have already made themselves a home in this anime and this last part definitely pushes the motif of fate to the foreground. This is a particularly nice touch for a show that touches upon artistic creation. Authors are writing down a story that sometimes has a predetermined ending. Other times, the characters take control of the story and the author is more of a conduit for them. It will be interesting to see if this aspect is touched on more throughout the plot.
