What You Need to Know:

  • If you are looking for a fun way to spend a couple hours of free time, then you must check out Resident Evil Vendetta. Part horror, part thriller, and all badass; Resident Evil Vendetta is a thrill-packed ride that puts the all the glory of the Resident Evil series on full display.
  • Taking place between the events of Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the story begins off with Leon being his moody self and declaring that he does not know how he got to this point. Admittedly, he has every right to be quite the depressed soul as he has spent many years of his life taking on the undead. Then we go to Chris who is on a mission chasing down Glenn Arias, a merchant of death who has been dabbling in the creation of bioweapons in order to achieve revenge for the death of his wife and friends. The chase leads Chris to a mansion that will hold a lot of nostalgia for those who have played any of the classic Resident Evil games. Well, that mission goes haywire with the whole squad being decimated and Glenn completely destroying Chris physically, mentally, and emotionally.
  • It is after this scene that we get to catch up with Rebecca Chambers who has just found a proper cure for the virus that Glenn Arias has been using to turn people into bioweapons. However, her research has been monitored by Glenn, and he attacks her facility to destroy the cure. This is when Chris and Rebecca make a fateful reunion. Once those two meet up, they decide it is best to bring Leon into the fray.
  • The plotlines will be skipped now as to not ruin the movie. Overall, the movie is something all Resident Evil fans will enjoy. There are great action moments with both Leon and Chris showing off their respective fighting styles. There are also a lot of little humorous moments that poke fun at the horror genre in general, but also at the little oddities of the Resident Evil universe that make it so memorable. Though there are some moments of horror, it is important to note that horror aficionados might not find it quite up to standards. Gore and scares do await the viewer, but the movie falls into more of a graphic action-thriller genre.
  • In the end, a guest panel involved in the creation of the movie came out and discussed a range of topics. The panel was split on who would win in a fight between Chris and Leon, which was a glorious moment to witness. They also discussed the joys and difficulty of voice acting and motion capture as well as adapting the film from Japanese to English. Quite a lot of work went into the production, especially when it came down to ensuring that the dialogue flowed properly. This reporter is extremely glad to say that every mark was hit.
