Kikou, an previously-unknown threat, suddenly appears and launches an attack on humanity, leaving many cities helplessly destroyed and humanity in the midst of a dilemma. However, on discovering some Kikou wreckage in Japan, the Tokyo Kikou Research Facility is established, and starts to research how to use Kikou as weapons. Fight fire with fire, fight Kikou with Kikou - this was humanity’s one and only hope.

Nine years later.

Muttsu, the main Kikou which has been developed using the discovered wreckage, will soon be stepping into their first real battle. The two chosen pilot candidates, young man Rin Sagami and young woman Yuzuru Midou, will boldly face their mission, all whilst shouldering the massive burden of being the only hope for humanity’s future.

However, what awaited them was too cruel a fate...

Rin Sagami

17 years old. Tokyo Kikou Research Facility pilot candidate. Judged to be unsuitable to be a main pilot due to his lack of aptitude for Kikou. On the Kikou Muttsu, he is the partner of the main pilot, Yuzuru Midou.

Yuzuru Midou

Voice Actor: Sumire Uesaka

17 years old. Tokyo Kikou Research Facility pilot candidate. Judged to have outstanding talent with all A grades on the Kikou aptitude test. Works alongside sub-pilot Rin Sagami on the Kikou Muttsu.

Jouji Muguruma

Voice Actor: Satoshi Hino

29 years old. Tokyo Kikou Research Facility pilot. A veteran with a wealth of experience in combat and a great upperclassman to the newbie pilots.

Yuuichirou Sawatari

Voice Actor: Takanori Hoshino

44 years old. The tactical commander of Tokyo Kikou Research Facility. One of the central people who established the research facility.

Yuki Mishima

Voice Actor: Mai Nakahara

27 years old. Chief researcher at Tokyo Kikou Research Facility who offers technical support to the Kikou going into battle. She’s like a close older sister to Rin and Yuzuru.

Kaori Shimizu

Voice Actor: Ayane Sakura

23 years old. A mechanic at Tokyo Kikou Research Facility. Brightens up the atmosphere with her cheerful personality.
