After returning to Guangzhou, he makes new friends and decides to fight against the cooking underworld which is plotting to rule humans by food. It is then that Mao learns of the eight legendary kitchen tools said to protect the world of Chinese cooking. That is when the battle between the cooking underworld unfolded with his dearly-departed mother, Pai, and the wish for happiness from thousands of people.

Mao Hsing Liu

History’s youngest, highest-ranked chef. He is the only son of Pai, a head chef at the vegetable restaurant, Saikan, in Sichuan. He has a unique sense of taste and incredible imagination. He begins training at a liquor store in Guangzhou before setting out on a journey to search for, collect, and protect the eight legendary kitchen tools from the cooking underworld.

Mei Li Chou

Mei Li is the only daughter of the vice-head chef Yu Zhou at the liquor store that Mao has just begun training at. After spending time with Mao, she has started to have faint feelings for him. She joins Mao on his journey to search for the eight legendary kitchen tools.

Lao Zhi

Lao is half-Japanese and half-Chinese who looks up adoringly to Mao calling him, ‘Mao-nii’. He met Mao when he was on a journey to master cooking and became his best pupil under Mao, treated like a younger brother. He joined Mao. He has a cheerful, cheeky personality, but demonstrates his abilities in do or die moments. He joins Mao on his journey to search for the eight legendary kitchen tools.

Shell

Shell’s nickname is ‘the Silver Shell’. He has a jovial personality and acts as Mao’s older brother and confidant. He decides to travel with Mao in order to search for the eight legendary kitchen tools.

Leon

Leo is also known as the ‘seven-sworded Lion’. In order to get his hands on the only key to unlocking the eight legendary kitchen tools which will let him fight against the underworld, he returns to the liquor store where Mao works. He decides to travel with Mao to search for the eight legendary kitchen tools in order to fight against the cooking underworld.

Fei

Fei is Mao’s greatest and most-worthy rival. He passed the special cooking test with Mao at the same time. Quiet and reserved, nothing disturbs this pretty boy.
