Magic is a very amusing concept, it is more amusing if it is something we can see, use, and achieve if only in our dreams. This is also the reason why we love reading and watching them in different forms of media. Occasionally, we like letting our minds go free. We imagine actually wielding magic. Since we’re just imagining it, there’s no restraint or bounds to what our magic can do. We just like to meld ideas together and see how they unfurl. Not only is it exciting, but it is also very amusing too. If someone is to live in a world of magic and wonders, it is very much justified to geek out on magic and sorcery.

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability follows the story of the 7th prince of the nation of Saloum. However, he is not just any prince. In fact, this is his second chance in life. He was an unfortunate lowly sorcerer in his previous life and was killed by a noble’s spell. Even in death, his love for sorcery comes out as he marvels at the spell his killer used against him. Being given a second chance in life with the qualifications and resources needed to practice sorcery, Lloyd doesn’t miss a chance to geek out and study whatever he still hasn’t learned about sorcery.
1. Everyone is Overpowered
This series doesn’t seem to like weak characters. Each and everyone of Lloyd’s entourage are superpowered. So much so that his familiar, an ancient demon, looks fluffy and cute. Not to mention the monster that is Lloyd, his sword fighting instructor, Sylpha, and even the random adventurer, Tao, he met are insanely strong. Sylpha can easily hand Lloyd his ass despite the fact that Lloyd is using multiple spells to cheat. Not only that, she doesn’t even break a sweat doing so. Even though Tao can’t really hold a candle against Lloyd, she easily handled three giant orcs without much problems. Of course, there’s also his familiar Grim. Being an ancient demon alone should prove how much power he possesses. Even so, Grim can’t help but shudder every time Lloyd tries to experiment with anything.
2. Magic Experimentation at Its Finest
Unlike most series wherein the protagonists are innately overpowered the moment they set foot in their new world, Lloyd has to study his way to get there. Don’t get us wrong. He definitely has some insanely great understanding and whatnot, but he never just got there without the grind. He constantly comes up with weird ideas and experiments to try them out. Although it doesn’t always go his way, seeing the process and results is entertaining on its own. Not only that, it also gives us a good idea on how Lloyd and his world’s magic work.
3. What Comes Next?
Given the fact that Lloyd’s ideas are sporadic and that the series doesn’t follow a linear plot just yet, we have no idea what he’ll be doing next. It’s not a bad thing, though. It makes the reading experience more exciting. Doing this, I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability efficiently makes us anticipate for more. Like behaved children, we continue to inhale its contents jubilantly. The sad thing is once the volume ends, and we absolutely want more.
Final Thoughts
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability isn’t your typical isekai. For one, the protagonist doesn’t come from our world. In fact, he’s reincarnated to his own world. Even though it contains more than a few tropes of the isekai genre, the series executes it very well. It’s funny, exciting, and fun. Other than waiting for the next volume to come out, we can’t wish for more.
