After hearing of his childhood friend Ushio Kobune’s death, Shinpei Ajiro returns to his hometown of Wakayama on the island of Hitogashima for the first time in two years. Friends and family reunite. The funeral is held without incident. All seems well until his best friend, Mado Hishigata, gives him a chilling message: “There’s something off about her death; she might have been murdered.” The next day, a family in the neighborhood disappears, and Shinpei hears a disturbing rumor:

“If you see a shadow that looks like you, you die—the shadow kills you!”
