- The Official Sword Art Online Progressive website yesterday released a key visual and trailer for the upcoming movie "Sword Art Online: Progressive - Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria", both of which announe a 2021 on-screen date!

- The key visual depicts Asuna and Kirito just as they each begin their journey in Aincrad, at the begining of the SAO story. The trailer, similarly centers on Asuna during the same period.
- The Sword Art Online: Progressive light novels are creator Reki Kawahara's revised retelling of the whole story of Sword Art Online, starting from the beginning. This time, giving more focus to how Kirito faced each floor in the floating Aincrad castle. There is also more of Asuna's background revealed and explored.
- Ayako Kono will direct the movie, character design will be handled by abec using Kento Toya's designs, Yuki Kajiura will do music and production will be handled by A-1 Pictures, and Kirito and Asuna will continue to be voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu respectively.
