The highly anticipated second season of Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2) presents us with Rimuru’s empire looking to grow beyond its borders and make some connections! However, someone from Shizu-san’s past has set their sights on Rimuru and plans to assassinate him! We know very little about this assailant, but she was most likely close to Shizu when she was still alive. In the first episode, we see this unnamed character ruminating about killing the person who “killed Shizu-san”, but as the audience, we know it’s a lot more complicated than that!
An Agent From Eurazania?
In the first few episodes of the second season of That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru and his kingdom are preparing to send a delegation to the Kingdom of Eurazania, a land ruled by the Demon Lord Carrion, with whom Rimuru wants to build a partnership. Our first thoughts are that the individual who wants to lay waste to Rimuru Tempest is a character yet-to-be-introduced by episode 3, possibly from the Kingdom of Eurazania. However, when the Eurazania delegation arrives at the Jura Tempest Federation, none of them look like the woman who has something in for Rimuru. We can assume a few things from this: she is not someone from Eurazania at all; or the assassin is someone much like Shion, who cannot be trusted to make friendly connections if sent out on a mission of this importance! Whatever the case may be, if the next few episodes focus more on this looming danger, we’re in for a great time!
Another Summoned Being?
In the first season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru learns that there are more summoned beings from other worlds, including himself, Shizu, and the children he took under his wing. Perhaps the individual looking to end Rimuru’s life is yet another person from the same world as Shizu and himself, someone with a close connection to Shizu in her time in this world. We assume that the person will carry out the mission themselves, and so they should be quite powerful. It may be that this individual was one of Shizu’s students before Rimuru took over their protection and education.
Final Thoughts
When the individual aiming for Rimuru’s life this season eventually makes an appearance this season, we will definitely be in for some peak story and combat sequences, however, the season is building slowly towards the business end of the series, with the first three episodes of the second season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime giving us more about Rimuru’s ambitions for expansion and political alliances. However, be that as it may, we have been given just enough to know that things are about to get very spicy in the Jura Tempest Federation!
