What You Need to Know:
- Have you ever wanted something so exclusive that no one else in the world can have it? Well we have some good news for you as Tokyo Otaku Mode has officially unveiled its latest campaign, alongside Anique! What's Anique you ask? It's a service in which users can use blockchain technology to become the sole proprietors of unique artwork from some of Japan’s top contents like anime, manga, and games.
- The first round will start on May 8th, 2019 (Wednesday) and will have the ownership of 26 pieces of digital artwork from the internationally popular anime, Attack on Titan, available for sale.
- With the use of blockchain technology called NFT (Non-Fungible Token), Anique can grant 3 special privileges to the only person in the world who owns a piece of artwork. The first is that their name will be engraved as an owner throughout history due to the blockchain technology even after the artwork is sold. The second is that owners will be able to purchase a physical copy of the artwork, printed like cel animation, during their ownership. Finally, owners will be able to sell and purchase the artwork on the platform. Some of the proceeds from the sale will go back to the original producers of the art as resources for their next work.
- The artwork will center around Japanese anime, manga, and games, but it won’t be limited to currently popular titles. They will also feature “sleeping treasures,” titles that have finished airing or have been taken off the market. Anique aims to increase the circulation of Japanese content around the world and create a new revenue stream for creators through a business model for the new era. Proof of Digital Ownership
Due to blockchain technology, the name of the owner will be recorded and proof of ownership will be available even after the owner sells the piece. However, copyright will continue to belong to the creators and production committee.
Owners will be able to view special content related to the artwork, such as rough drafts used in production.
Ordering Framed Cel Art
In recent years, anime production has become digitized. As cel animation shifted to digital animation, cel art disappeared around the year 2000. Owners of these pieces of digital artwork can request the production of a physical cel version. Owners can order one piece only.
Partial Profits Go to the Creator
When the digital artwork is purchased or sold, part of the profit returns to the creator as resources for their next work.
