Sasaki and Miyano, Vol. 1 - OUT NOW!

This is a sweet BL series starring Miyano, a high school boy who is actually really into reading BL! A classmate, Sasaki, takes a liking to Miyano – and to the BL manga that Miyano lets him borrow – but Miyano seems completely oblivious to Sasaki’s feelings. This promises to be an ultra-cute slow burn romance suitable for teens and up. And on a personal note, I found it utterly charming.

The Vampire and His Pleasant Companions, Vol. 1 - OUT NOW!

Based off of a novel, this series tells the story of Albert, an American vampire who is beholden to the sun: When it’s up, he appears as a bat. At night, he’s in his human form. When a freak incident at a meat-processing plant lands him in Japan, Albert must rely on the kindness of (attractive, male) strangers to find his way in a new land. This is definitely a steamier title than Sasaki and Miyano, and our protagonist has a more complicated relationship with the other characters. But it’s another fun BL series with an interesting vampiric twist, sure to appeal to older and newer BL fans alike!

Solo Leveling, Vol. 1 (novel) - 2/16/2021

Solo Leveling is originally a Korean web novel that gained so much popularity it was adapted into a webtoon, as well. The series follows Jinwoo Sung, an E-rank hunter with no prospects who, on the verge of death, is exposed to a new leveling system that opens up unique new opportunities for him. This is the first time this novel will be available in print in English – and they’ll be publishing the comic in March, too!

Golden Japanesque: A Splendid Yokohama Romance, Vol. 1 - 2/23/2021

I’ve got another romance here for you! (After all, it is the month of ~LOVE~!) Golden Japanesque is very much in the vein of classic shojo series, from the artwork to the story. Sixteen-year-old Maria is an oddity in Meiji-era Japan with her blonde hair and blue eyes. She feels like an outcast, and her own mother seems to look upon her with shame. But one day she meets Rintarou, who thinks she looks like she walked straight out of a fairy tale. Buckle up for some gorgeously illustrated historical romance!
