A good opening or ending forms part of an impression we have over a certain anime, sometimes before we even start watching them. With music being synonymous with human emotions, certain nuances of music allows us to picture the anime even before we even watch it.
Here at Honey's Anime, we deliberated and considered numerous options and realised that music is a personal thing. Rather than forcing out a compiled list of top 10 music, we relish in all genres and forms of music. So do join us and share with us which OPs & EDs do you find memorable for Year 2015! Here are our favorites:
10. Overlord - Ending 1
“L.L.L” by MYTH&ROID
- Episodes: 13
- Aired: Jul 2015 - Sep 2015
When Momonga gets trapped in an RPG game, his whole life changes literally. His life now is the gaming world that he is so fond of. With NPCs suddenly becoming alive and self-aware, Momonga must act the role of the supreme leader of the guild which he built. With no physical connection to reality, this anime portrays his adventures in the animate world of Yggdrasil.
The song has very powerful vocals alongside powerful instrumentals. It keeps you hyped up for the next episode. With a very steady beat, the vocals and instruments are in perfect synchronisation with each other creating a harmonious resonance in an explosive and dynamic song.

9. Himouto! Umaru-chan - Opening 1
“Kakushinteki☆Metamaruphose!” by Umaru Doma (Aimi Tanaka)
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Jul 2015 - Sep 2015
Umaru-chan is literally the best way to represent the ultimate and blissful otaku life. Cola and chips while playing games and then retreating to either read manga or watch anime. That is the kind of life we would want to live honestly... The whole show is about the misadventures of Umaru Doma and how her brother, Taihei Doma, copes with her.
The moe song of 2015 HAS to be this song. The OP has an upbeat flow and a high-pitched kawaii voice to complement it well. Being extremely catchy, it needs little explanation as to why it made this list. Also, it generally just makes you happy. Enough said.

8. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei Herz! - Opening 1
“Wonder Stella” by fhána
- Episodes: 10
- Aired: Jul 2015 - Sep 2015
liner Prisma is a spinoff from the original Fate Series. Instead of having Servants fight it out, the protagonist, IlIya now collects Class Cards, cards that encapsulate Heroic Spirits. This is a light hearted rendition from the original plot heavy Fate/Stay Night.
“Wonder stella” sounds like an optimistic song and the moderately fast tempo keeps it very balanced, making it pleasantly soothing and at the same time engaged. The song has an undertone of action as well, which reflects the anime very well.

7. Owari no Seraph 2nd Season - Opening 2
“Two souls -towards the truth-” by fripSide
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Oct 2015 - Dec 2015
The continuation of Owari no Seraph. After being reunited with Mikaela, Yuuichirou realises that he was turned into a vampire. Noticing that what he lacks is knowledge, he seeks to find the truth and to train up as well.
The artistes that brought you the popular ‘Only My Railgun’ are back. fripSide now sings for Owari no Seraph and it is not a disappointing experience. Along with the usual charming vocals of Nanjo, the arrangement of Sat brings about a quick tempo with very fluid rhythm to complement Nanjo’s notes, which always brings a good start to the anime.

6. Arslan Senki - Ending 2
“One Light” by Kalafina
- Episodes: 25
- Aired: Apr 2015 - Sep 2015
Arslan is the young prince of a prosperous kingdom. When his father died, it was up to him to rule the country, but he feels that he does not have what it takes to assume such a responsibility. He loses everything in his first battle and sets out on the path to reclaim the kingdom that was rightfully his.
It is the ED of Arslan that reminds you that there is still much to look forward to and to continue the anime. With its energetic tempo and regular rhythm, the ED of Arslan will have you humming along as you proceed your way to your destination.

5. Fate/Stay Night: UBW 2nd Season - Opening 2
“Brave Shine” by Aimer
- Episodes: 13
- Aired: Apr 2015 - Jun 2015
When the Holy Grail is promised to the victorious, the 7 Servants will come forth again in a battle royale. Each representing a mythical figure in the folklore of the world. These 7 fight for the Grail, but there are some whose intentions are different. Some simply materialize to settle issues from the previous war. The conclusion is still the same - there will only be one victor.
“Brave Shine” is a very feels-evoking song. The range of vocals goes from seemingly sinking deep into despair but then rising up again with much hope and energy. This fluctuation of music is what makes “Brave Shine” a very powerful music which brings you along for the ride.

4. Charlotte - Opening 1
“Bravely You” by Lia
- Episodes: 13
- Aired: Jul 2015 - Sep 2015
Yuu Otosaka apparently has the power to enter the minds of people for 5 seconds. In a world where powers exists, Yuu also have the power to steal their powers. He meets Nao Tomori when he was misusing his powers and he was pressured into joining a school for others with supernatural abilities. This anime came from the creators of Angel Beats! and Clannad - both renowned for their OPs and EDs as well as their soundtrack and insert songs.
We admit that we all went in with expectations already. That expectation however was fulfilled. “Bravely You” is of a different genre of music than the usual slow paced, feelings evoking music of its predecessors, being more fast paced in general. The main highlight is still the powerful, but yet calming vocals. The bonus? Starting from 0:49 of the video below. The short, jaunty segment of the music. You should try it!

3. Noragami Aragoto - Opening 1
“Kyouran Hey Kids!!” by THE ORAL CIGARETTES
- Episodes: 13
- Aired: Oct 2015 - Dec 2015
Directly following the events of the previous season, Aragoto follows the forgotten god - Yato with much focus placed in the rivalry between him and the God of War, Bishamon. Also included, more hearty moments with Hiyori Iki and more comedic moments with his familiar, Yukine.
If the guitar intro doesn't reel you in already, the next part will definitely, as the drums, guitar and bass suddenly come alive with explosive dynamism. It is catchy, has a fast tempo and powerful vocals. We thought the OP in Noragami was good but its successor did not fail to deliver as well.

2. One Punch Man - Opening 1
“THE HERO!!” by Jam Project
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Oct 2015 - Dec 2015
Saitama is just your average looking guy with an equally average lifestyle. Or so we thought. OPM had indeed delivered quality following the hype phase which made it very popular even before it officially aired. Literally ending everything with one punch, there is much humor that could be injected at the expense of the antagonists!
We feel that the OP for OPM is very appropriate. Very catchy and appropriate interjections with adjectives (ONE PUNNCH! POWER! HERO!) of the main character. Heavy action-themed and strong bass to complement the vocals. Let's admit it, we will pay top dollar to a rock concert for this.

1. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - Ending 1
“Kirameiki” by wacci
- Episodes: 22
- Aired: Oct 2014 - Mar 2015
When a free-spirited violinist meets a talented piano player whom had lost his touch, there is much development that can occur. Kaori Miyazono reminds Arima Kousei that music is something that is not to be feared and can be fully expressed in many ways. This touching tale shows how the both of them travel on a path towards self-discovery with music as the main impetus.
We need not say any further why the ending to Shigatsu made the list, after all, this song pretty much shocked us very early in year 2015. “Kirameiki” is a cheery ending song in our opinion. It has a moderately paced tempo and an overall bright feel to it that ends the anime off in a pleasant manner. What made it a memorable song however, was that it was remixed into the insert song for a very monumental event. For those that have yet to watch it, we urge you to do so!
