Here at Honey’s Anime HQ, many of us are pet owners. While they might be out physical blood related family members, they are still parts of our family. We care about them and we show them love as they in turn show us emotions and keep us happy. That’s why we felt it was fitting to show that family can come in furry forms. For many, the lineage of the family tree is a sacred theme. How and what our ancestors did in turn makes up how the family will be in the future and it’s important to understand that. Now Hyo Yi and Min Ha are bound together to keep the brother safe and this in turn might create a rather romantic relationship to form between the two students.
World Bring It On! by manhwaga Hwang Mi Ri is a very rare story to be seen in the world of manhwa. Rarely do stories like World Bring It On! talk about mentally challenged characters and the struggles they deal with as well as the family who vow to protect them. That’s what makes World Bring It On! perfect for our list. With amazing shoujo themed art and a fun romance story with tons of drama as well, World Bring It On! shows how families are both strong together and how new ones can be born from that strength as well. Trust us, folks, you won’t go wrong with World Bring It On! if you’re looking for a good family manhwa to read.
7. The Bride of the Water God
- Authors: Yoon, Mi-Kyung
- Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo
- Volumes: 24
- Published: Oct, 2007- 2014
In a small village, a terrible drought has caused the villagers within to suffer. Hoping for much needed rain the village comes together to sacrifice one of its own. Choosing Soah—a young girl native of the village—she is told that she will be offered to the water god to save her village. Soah however is saved by The Water God himself and is told she would accompany him to his Water Kingdom. Soah’s new life begins here in The Bride of the Water God.
Families sometimes can be born from quite unusual circumstances. Just look at Soah for example. Soah ends up going from sacrifice to bride to The Water God in The Bride of the Water God by manhwaga Yoon Mi-Kyung. This shows a family being born from marriage and while The Bride of the Water God might be very fantasy focused, it does still show family being created and how that can change one’s life in so many ways. The Bride of the Water God is an excellent family manhwa with beautiful art and a strong narrative that will keep you enthralled from beginning to end.
6. Romance Papa
- Authors: Lee, Youngran
- Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, School, Shoujo
- Volumes: 8
- Published: Dec, 2007- Dec, 2008
There’s an old saying that sometimes one’s past actions can come back in rather curious ways. This especially rings true for Sangbum who many years ago before becoming a plastic surgeon donated sperm and now finds that someone used that sperm to conceive a child. 13-year-old Myunghae had her foster family die recently leaving her with only one place left to go, her technical biological father. Now Sangbum must become a father to this child despite not being even remotely prepared. Sangbum must also prepare for the life his daughter will have as a young female in a world of romance gone good and bad…
Romance Papa is definitely one of those rarer manhwa series as its story is quite outlandish but cute nonetheless. The idea of a sperm donor now having to raise a child years later isn’t an unheard idea in movies or even novels but in manhwa its pretty unique. However, we here at Honey’s Anime don’t just love Romance Papa for its different take on the shoujo genre but also for how it handles families becoming mature—in the case of Sangbum especially—whether they were prepared for this change or not. Romance Papa isn’t a series we hear talked about too much in the manhwa community but hopefully with it being on our Top 10 Family Manhwa list you’ll check it out and see why we like it.
5. Dear My Girls
- Authors: Kim, Hee Eun- Alcott, Louisa May
- Genres: Comedy, Drama, Historical, Romance, Shoujo
- Volumes: 9
- Published: 2005- 2012
In the March family, the daughters Meg, Jo and Amy are considered popular and talented. However, for the fourth daughter—Elizabeth—she is far from either of these elements. Considered the weakest one of the March family, Elizabeth struggles to shine in their shadows. Elizabeth’s battle gets even harder when she decides to go to the same academy as them. Though fate has some interesting things in store for Elizabeth and her tale begins when she runs into a rather rude boy named Adrian.
If you’re a brother or sister of a huge family, Dear My Girls by manhwaga Kim Hee Eun and Alcott Louisa May should resonate strongly with you. Seeing poor Elizabeth—who is cute in our minds here at Honey’s Anime—struggle to prove she’s got something to offer the world is a rather relatable theme. Dear My Girls also boasts some incredible art that really makes every panel feel real and dynamic which is a rare theme for manhwa sometimes. We love Dear My Girls as many of us here at Honey’s Anime have large sibling families and know the feelings associated with sometimes having to prove your worth against them. However, at the end of the day, most families wouldn’t ever truly compete with one another and love/companionship will always strive to be stronger for siblings.

Who hasn’t said cruel things to their family in a bout of rage? It’s a normal reaction for many of us and while it doesn’t mean you should say bad things to anyone in your family it does happen from time to time. I Wish… by manhwaga Hyunn Ju-Suh reminds us to cherish our families and equally be weary of what we say during those angry moments. A family is a precious thing, folks. Shall we Have Dinner Tonight? takes our 3rd spot on our Top 10 Family Manhwa list without much trouble. While it’s not centered on a family already, Shall we Have Dinner Tonight? shows signs of a family beginning to form. Both Kim and Woo begin to reach common grounds together and love blossoms in this short 3 volume work. We loved Shall we Have Dinner Tonight? from manhwaga Park See-In and we know you’ll like it too. Now the entire school thinks the siblings are dating! What can Hanmi do to save herself and remove this taboo image scattered through the school?!
One thing we understand here at Honey’s Anime HQ is how school life can be tough for sibling. Not only do siblings have to deal with each other at home but then in a place where people judge for every action taken between the family members. My Secret Brother adds a silly spin to it by making a strange romance seem to form between the family—we won’t spoil anything more than that—but that will in turn make you cry with laughter. My Secret Brother is a really good family manhwa so far and we recommend checking it out. Also, learn from My Secret Brother to avoid saying things in public that might cause people to think you’re in love with your siblings…
