Top 5 Overpowered Anime Characters from the Anime Spring 2015

Action heroes tend to be larger than life. And to that end, they’re portrayed accomplishing some incredible feats. However, sometimes they’re a little too larger than life, making it kind of difficult to suspend your disbelief. Just the same, sometimes a character can be so dominating that it’s impossible not to love them a little.

We haven’t had so many overpowered characters in Spring 2015, but here are 5 of the best!

5. Yukihira Soma from Shokugeki no Soma

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Apr 4, 2015 - ongoing

Yukihira Soma starts off with a pretty sizeable advantage to many of his rivals at Totsuki Academy. Unlike them, he’s served customers and worked in an actual commercial kitchen environment for years alongside his father, who is also an elite culinary talent.

This level of prodigy and experience is generally where the greats come from, so it’s not unbelievable that Soma is so skilled. What is a little harder to swallow is that Soma can seemingly come up with concoctions to cover up for recipes he’s never attempted let alone mastered. This comes up with he has to make a Boeuf Bourguignon, a classic French dish which is outside of Yukihira’s traditional style.

His resourcefulness seems overpowered, but still damn impressive.

4. Klaus von Reinharz from Kekkai Sensen

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Apr 5, 2015 - Ongoing

Klaus von Reinharz is another overpowered good guy. Klaus is the leader of Libra, an organization of superhumans who investigate crimes of a supernatural flair in Kekkai Sensen’s New York City. Klaus almost never faces a real match in combat throughout the entirety of the show.

It seems the only real threat that ever comes to him is in the form of the super strong ‘Blood Breed’ vampires. Perhaps his real power lies in his super human, nigh beyond comprehension determination. He takes on a prosfair (Chess on Crystal Meth played on a large number of boards simultaneously) master in a life or death game for days without rest to save a strangers life… so don’t try any staring matches anytime soon against him.

3. Crowley Eusford from Owari no Seraph

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Apr 8, 2015 - Jul 1, 2015

Crowley had a late entrance into the action of Owari no Seraph, only really appearing in the last few episodes of the series. However, he makes quick work of the main heroes of the show, basically giving them a free-pass and sparing their lives seemingly out of amusement.

Like the vast majority of vampires in Owari No Seraph, he see’s human beings as livestock, and doesn’t really have any reservations about toying with those weaker than him on the battlefield. When squaring off a second time with the heroes, Crowley is only thwarted by the last-minute intervention of a huge force of elite humans.

Without the 11th hour assist, it’s apparent he was easily capable of cutting through a huge number of the main protagonists of Owari no Seraph. Hopefully the cast can eat their Wheaties every morning till the next season and bulk up to take this guy on.

2. Gilgamesh from Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Apr 5, 2015 - Jun 28, 2015

Gilgamesh is Fate/stay night’s resident jerk face, magnificent bastard or loveable a-hole, depending on whom you ask. Whichever it is, he’s clear and away one of the strongest entities in Unlimited Blade Works. In the Fate universe, heroic spirits called servants battle it out with each other so that they can claim the Holy Grail.

These servants are all very powerful, but Gil rips through some of the strongest like he’s some Heroic Spirit weed whacker. His unbearably imperious and cocky attitude doesn’t help much, although it’s kind of hard to not have a stick up your butt when you’re that strong.

Gilgamesh requires a coalition of characters to challenge, and is the main threat for the entirety of UBW’s second season.

1. Daryun from Arslan Senki

The Heroic Legend of Arslan
  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: Apr 5, 2015 - Sep 27, 2015

Daryun is the sworn sword of the Arslan, the prince of Pars and titular character of Arslan Senki. He’s one of his closest confidants, advisors and probably his best fighter. Fitting for a prince, he’s a seemingly unmatched presence on the battlefield or in a duel.

Sometimes, he seems quite otherworldly, vying equally with hundreds of grunts who are trying to get their shot at the prince. It’s joked in the series that Daryun might be able to cut through 50,000 men himself. We’re not sure how much of it as a joke, and how much of it is serious.

Whether it is or not, he singlehandedly turns the tide of a number of battles in the princes favor throughout the duration of the show. Daryun is a loyal, loveable servant, and we’re kind of glad he’s so overpowered.

We really didn’t have any world-breakers when it came to overpowered characters this time around. We hoped you enjoyed the few who really made life seem unfair for those facing off against them in their respective series.
