During the class camping trip, Nishikata is unable to sleep and heads out to find a place to think. Nishikata finds a nice wide open spot under the stars and just so happens to run into Takagi. The two enjoy some alone time under the stars until they are almost caught by Tanabe-sensei. In order to avoid getting spotted, Nishikata and Takagi hide amongst the rocks. The two of them sit there until Tanabe-sensei leaves and then decide to stay there just a little bit longer. There are so many cute moments between Takagi and Nishikata in the series, but this one is one of the best. The episode does such a great job at building up to this scene with all of the things happening between Takagi and Nishikata leading up to them ending up under the stars together.

Mina shows up to school tired and with some very messy hair. She tells Yukari and Sanae that she stayed up late watching a show about hypnotism. The hypnotism worked so well that Mina had been hypnotized to believe she was a dog, but she tells her friends that it had worn off when she woke up. As Mina walks away, Yukari and Sanae can't help but think she might still be hypnotized. This is one of the best segments featuring the trio of friends. It is a little short, however, it is still incredibly funny and each of the girls get to share some of the comedic spotlights here.

Nishikata is on his way to go fishing with his friends when he bumps into Takagi on her way home from the store. The two make small talk about summer break as Nishikata helps Takagi carry her bags. Nishikata tries over and over to muster up the courage to ask Takagi to go to the festival with him, but he is unable to and leaves without ever asking her. Just as Takagi is about to head inside, Nishikata heads back and finally asks Takagi to go to the fireworks festival with him. The last two episodes are filled with so many fantastic moments between Takagi and Nishikata, but this one is by far the cutest. You can't help but smile when you see how elated Takagi is or how shocked and dazed Nishikata is at the fact he was able to ask her out.

It is Nishikata's birthday, and he is sent by his mother to go pick up his cake. On his way there, he bumps into Takagi who is also heading the same way. They head together to the cake shop, but Nishikata doesn't want to let Takagi find out that it is his birthday or that he has to pick up his own cake. However, Takagi already knew it was his birthday and had ordered him a special treat and gave it to him all without teasing him. This is one of the best overall scenes in the series. There is a whole lot of comedy with Nishikata's reactions around everything involving his birthday. We also get some cute moments from Takagi and Nishikata, making this just an all around great scene.

Takagi and Nishikata get separated right before the fireworks are about to start. Nishikata sets out to find Takagi and looks everywhere for her but is unable to find her until he gets a little help from Kimura. Once he is able to find her, Nishikata grabs Takagi's hand so that they don't get separated again. Unfortunately, by time Nishikata finds Takagi the fireworks are over, but they do get to have their own private firework session on the beach. This whole season of Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san had been building up to this scene and it did not disappoint. It is such a cute scene and it just warms your heart to finally see Nishikata hold Takagi's hand.
