Ever since Chisaki was saved by Kogarashi and Yuuna from perverted stuffed animals, Chisaki is curious about Yuuna—what Yuuna is like, how old she is, what she looks like. Chisaki is incapable of interacting with ghosts, so they exchange replies and tell stories through writing because Yuuna is capable of interacting with physical objects. After being scolded by the teacher, Yuuna helps Chisaki sort the books in the Social Studies Materials Room and they continue with their girl talk. To show her thanks for the company, Chisaki invites Yuuna to touch her so Yuuna can get the measurements and the type of materials used for the school uniform.

Chisaki is still a newly-introduced character and in episode 5, the anime gives her another set of scenes; this time, it’s her and Yuuna touching each other. The loving caresses as their fingers slide across their bodies are nothing sexual but rather a way of getting to know each other since Chisaki can’t see Yuuna and Yuuna doesn’t want to touch Chisaki’s body without her consent. The scene is simple, sensual and it’s very hot to see two girls touching each other.

The entire class of 1-4 goes out on a field trip to a beach resort and the first thing everyone does is go play on the beach with their newly-bought swimwear. Not everything is great, though—rumor has it that there is a tentacle monster lurking underwater, attacking female swimmers by taking off their clothes using its slimy tentacles. And coincidentally, Yuuna and the gang get attacked by the tentacle monster and true to the rumor—their clothes are slowly stripped away.

A tentacle monster molesting girls using its slimy tentacles is a common trope or meme in Japanese culture and it’s also a cheap-but-effective fanservice scenario to show off the girls in compromising or demeaning near-hentai situations. In the case of the tentacle scene in Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san, it’s another way to show the girls naked and it’s hard to complain about looking at the girls, especially Chisaki, getting tied up by slimy tentacles. Cliched? Yes. An overused trope? Sure. But is it still ecchi? Absolutely!

The resort hot springs scene with the entire class is very brief, lasting almost a minute, but each frame is drawn to near perfection: Yuuna, the rest of the gang, and even the girls in class 1-4 proudly show off their beautiful bodies while enjoying everyone’s company, the relaxing warm water, and an unobstructed view of the ocean at night. If you take a closer look, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san is very beautifully-drawn, and this hot springs scene is a good example of how beautiful the anime is. No crazy antics, no screaming girls, and no guys getting tossed into the air, the hot springs scene is pure beauty and appreciation of the beautiful female anatomy.

Chisaki visits the Yuragi Inn to see Yuuna and to meet with the tenants of the inn. Despite her initial reluctance to visit the rumored haunted inn, Chisaki instantly becomes a wonderful friend to everyone at the inn, so much so, the girls invite Chisaki to spend the night in Yuuna’s room. But wait, aren’t Yuuna and Kogarashi share the same room, and Chisaki is basically going to sleep in a boy’s room, together with Kogarashi? Fortunately for Chisaki and her purity as a young teenage girl, Kogarashi is working overtime so he won’t be home until the next day. All is good, but Chisaki doesn’t know that Yuuna moves a lot in her sleep. And to make matters worse, Kogarashi gets home early and goes to sleep without knowing Chisaki is next to him.

The sleepover scene is a great mix of character moments and ecchi moments that makes it one of the best scenes in the anime. Yuuna invites Chisaki to touch her face and Chisaki accidentally ends up groping Yuuna’s boobs because Chisaki couldn’t see ghosts like Yuuna. The next part is Koyuzu flexing her transformation powers by transforming Yuuna and Chisaki’s clothes into various costumes like a cheerleader costume and a waitress costume. The craziness continues throughout the night when the sleeping half-naked Yuuna pins Chisaki, exposing her bare butt towards Kogarashi. The sleepover scene then ends with Oboro sneaking in the room, pinning Kogarashi because she’s determined to have his babies. Yeah, we know, we’re very jealous of Kogarashi, too.

On a normal early morning at the Yuragi Inn, Kogarashi is at the hot springs cleaning the bath area before the girls arrive. Koyuzu, who is half-asleep, is the first to arrive and she unwittingly casts her transformation spell on Kogarashi, turning him into a bottle of body soap. Koyuzu is the only one who can undo the spell, but she isn’t aware of what she has done. As soon as the girls prepare to take a bath, they use the only available bottle of soap available: Kogarashi himself.

Kogarashi is a pure-hearted person and doesn’t take advantage of the girls who literally threw themselves at him. It’s a good thing our hero isn’t a dirty-minded pervert, but it’s also a bad thing because some scenes would’ve been better if Kogarashi didn’t look away at the sight of boobs. The scene with Kogarashi turning into a bottle of body soap is an innocent case of unavoidable circumstances where Kogarashi is experiencing hellish paradise as his liquified body slides across the breasts, nipples, butts and crotches of Yuuna, Sagiri, Yaya, and Nonko, and then slowly gets drained to the sewers when the girls rinse away the soap. Kogarashi getshis body back and it’s back to business as usual—almost getting killed by the girls after Koyuzu undoes the spell.
