The online store Amazon.co.jp has announced on December 1st a ranking of its sales for the year 2014. The ranking encompass all sales from December 1st 2013 to November 16th 2014. It is a huge ranking comprised of over 30 categories and many more subcategories.
Anime titles and softs aimed at hard core fans make over 50% of Amazon.co.jp’s sales and we were able to deduce which titles are the biggest hits from that!
When restricting the ranking to anime only, the list goes as follow, [Mobile Suit Gundam UC 7], [Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – Hangyaku no Monogatari], [Love Live 2 – Season 1], [Kara no Kyoukai – Mirai Fukuin], [The Idolm@ster Movie – Shining Festival] and [Girls und Panzer – Kore ga Hontou no Anzio-sen Desu!]. Many of which are blu-rays of theater versions!
Amongst the producers, Bandai Visuals and Aniplex are the two that stand out. Bandai Visual made the titles that ranked 1st and 3rd, while Aniplex wins the majority by having 6 titles in the top 10. Aside from those two companies, Pony Canyon produced Attack on Titan which ranked 8th on the list.
