Juuuuuuuust look at it! Re:Zero is known for its story, but the art also stands out so fans can recognize the art immediately. Ootsuka hasn’t worked on anything beyond Re:Zero, but the series does have that familiar twinge to it. A look at Conception’s key visual shows the visual influence immediately. While the art may not be enough to sway most viewers, some will consider this a major deciding factor.

If you like games, have played the game, or are an isekai fan, you are going to love Conception. Our main character is Itsuki, who is summoned to another world. This new world is menaced by beings that can only be defeated by new creatures born through special bonds with twelve different girls which each represent a different astrological sign. As a unique take on this action, fantasy, isekai setting, there is sure to be plenty for fans to fall in love with. The best part, too, is that like many an isekai anime before it, Conception is a harem. So expect our dashing main male lead to be surrounded by lovely ladies who fight over him and dote on him whenever possible.

You should always go into new shows with eyes wide open and the same is true here. Conception has a reputation for being a bit different, so do expect that. The other thing, too, is that if you are a fan of the minor girl characters, don’t expect to be seeing them in a big role. The main girls confirmed, as they have appeared in the earliest visual, are Mahiru, Arie, Femiruna, Collette and Yuzuha. So if you love anyone else, be prepared that they may not have a big role. This is most likely due to the fact that anime only has so many character archetypes that they can use before it feels overdone. Do you really want to watch a harem with three tsundere or two yangire? Doesn’t sound so fun, does it? Just be prepared is all we are saying.
