Discussion Time

Strange chapter of Yakusoku no Neverland this week, folks. Chapter 131 has Emma and Ray leaving the kids behind by using a rather peculiar method of reaching the gate. Before long, the two are taken away and appear in front of a very ornate gate and as they open it…the chapter changes directions! We then are taken to a meeting by a group of demon higher ups who are discussing their plans of action. The group are cut off by the arrival of—drum roll—the demon queen which ends the chapter on a very strange but epic way. Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 131 wasn’t a very profound way to begin this new arc coming, but it did set up some rather anguish causing cliffhangers. What will the queen declare and as the door proclaims, will Emma and Ray find returning home hard or neigh impossible? Once more, we have to wait for those answers—this series loves to make you wait—but till then, let’s discuss the good and bad about this week’s chapter! Don’t expect much good or bad though. Not much to really chew on with this chapter.

Why You Should Read Yakusoku no Neverland Chapter 131

1. Doors and Queens

Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 131 threw us an interesting giant door looming over our two fearless kids and equally gave us an imposing queen that we can only wonder about. Will this queen be ruthless or menacing and what lies behind the door? Chapter 131 piqued our interests and left us begging for chapter 132 due to these two big elements of the series. Till then, we can only wonder what the queen’s power holds and what dangers Emma and Ray face as they journey into a godforsaken land.

Why You Should Skip Yakusoku no Neverland Chapter 131

1. That’s All?

We didn’t expect a new story to just appear from the recap-like chapter last week, but equally, we had hoped chapter 131 of Yakusoku no Neverland would be a bit more…involving. While the mysterious door and queen gave us food for thought, it didn’t equally do much for pacing the series or set anything up that we didn’t expect to happen. We had wished the door would have shown at least a setting for us to contemplate the danger Ray and Emma could be facing or have the queen at least utter one line before the chapter’s wrap up. Yet, 131 of Yakusoku no Neverland didn’t do that and ends up being almost unneeded in terms of anything important. The demons saved this chapter with their plans of action and talk but not enough to really warrant a read if you want to see the juicy elements we expect from Yakusoku no Neverland.

Final Thoughts

Chapter 131 of Yakusoku no Neverland wasn’t a bad chapter—especially compared to last week’s chapter—but it didn’t wow us either. We had a giant door revealed and a queen make her appearance. Epic setups but underwhelming revelations cause 131 to feel a bit flat for the series. What are your thoughts on chapter 131 of Yakusoku no Neverland?
