In the real world, mazes can be easily one of the scariest constructs ever. Made to lead to dead ends and false paths, mazes are meant to challenge the mind in more ways than one. Though as tough as mazes are, they are usually solvable…unless Ray has found one with no solution. In chapter 134 of Yakusoku no Neverland, we see Ray older—much older—seemingly wandering a never-ending wasteland. With hope fading finally, Ray remembers when he entered the room leading to our supposed demon leader via the seven walls. Ray and Emma enter the hole and quickly discover this area isn’t exactly normal. With rooms that literally flip around and directions that seem skewed, the duo go from room to room and seemingly get more and more lost. The chapter ends with Ray narrating—or we can assume Ray—realizing that he originally felt confident about this maze but soon learned the horrible truth of its impossibility. Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 134 was an overall solid chapter, but we do have one complaint added to our review. First though, let’s examine why you absolutely want to read chapter 134 of Yakusoku no Neverland!

Why You Should Read Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) Chapter 134

1. No Way Out, No Hope Left

So far, Yakusoku no Neverland has always given readers a feeling of possibility. Even when Ray, Emma and/or Norman faced a treacherous situation, you knew they would make it out unscathed. They might lose a few allies and maybe get hurt but they wouldn’t lose hope. In chapter 134 of Yakusoku no Neverland, we finally feel that hopelessness as Ray is now quite older—which most likely is an illusion—walking endlessly in a wasteland. It almost makes you wonder is Ray really at his final breaking point? That feeling—as sad as it is—makes this chapter of Yakusoku no Neverland feel incredibly horrific and a must read for those who enjoy the horror element of the series.

2. Where to Go

With Ray walking an endless hell, we the readers are left with a blistering question. Where are we going to go from here? Our minds think that Emma will be the main focus of chapter 135 after Ray and her get split. It will also be kind of cool to possibly see a future Emma and how she would look in comparison to the worn down Ray.

Why You Should Skip Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) Chapter 134

1. Over Already

It has been several weeks since chapter 133 of Yakusoku no Neverland released and we had hoped 134 would be a bit longer to compensate for the break we had. Unfortunately, we didn’t get our wish and instead got an extremely short chapter that is over before you know it. In hindsight, is this really a reason to skip the chapter? No, but it does hurt that we have to again wait for a long time for another chapter—May 26 is when chapter 135 releases—and we hope that chapter will be longer.

Final Thoughts

Even despite its painful length, Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 134 was amazing. We’re really seeing the horror element these last few weeks pop up in the series and it is giving us chills as we witness our kids going through literal hell.
