Discussion Time

Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 136 made our hearts heavy for Ray and Emma. As they continue their “adventure” in the Seven Walls, they realize that this place might actually be too much for them. Despite their best efforts at using their wit and skill, the Seven Walls continues to show its randomness by making no repeat through this place the same. Ray is slowly showing signs of giving up—as he lashes out more than before—but Emma seems to show little sign of giving up. The duo’s only clue to this nightmarish realm is that time and reality seem to have no simple set up here. It explains why each area changes constantly and why their ages constantly go up and down. Despite the fear of not being able to control time and space, the duo has a beacon of light as they appear in an unfamiliar place…a desert. Emma immediately remembers a line from the William Minerva that says the desert has a clue they need. However, before Emma can articulate her thoughts, she de-ages—again—and leaves Ray to age forward losing his memory in the process. As Ray laments the reality of never leaving this place alive, another Emma bursts through a random closet and claims she has the answer to this place! Chapter 136 ends on a huge cliffhanger, but equally provided us with enough to chew on till 137 releases. Till then, let’s talk more about our reasons you need to read chapter 136 of Yakusoku no Neverland!

Why You Should Read Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) Chapter 136

1. Repeating Pain

The Seven Walls has become a living nightmare for our kids. As it constantly changes and disobeys the laws of reality, Emma and Ray find themselves losing hope in a place that has no logic or reason behind it. Groundhog events have been done in numerous horror anime, but we loved how creepy Yakusoku no Neverland has made this theme with the Seven Walls. A landscape that defies the mind and the reality we know truly makes for one scary nightmare induced setting.

2. Little Emma to the Rescue?!

As chapter 136 comes to a close, Ray seems truly defeated. With his memories fading he seems doomed to die in this place failing to keep Emma safe and to figure out a way to end the Demon and Human war. Thankfully, Little Emma appears randomly and seems to have the answers to beat this maze and end this nightmare once and for all! Emma, you are easily one of our favorite female shounen protagonists as nothing stops you it seems!

Final Thoughts

Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 136 seemed to head towards an ending that spelled disaster for our kids. With Emma bursting on the scene though from a possible alternate dimension, Ray—and the viewers—are given a bit of hope that we needed for our hearts! What is Emma’s answer to the Seven Walls?
