Yakusoku no Neverland truly gave us some feels this week, folks! In chapter 139, we learn about our assassin Ayshe and her past. Sought to be disposed of, Ayshe was taken by a deformed demon who ended up raising her despite initially thinking all humans were food. Growing up in hiding, Ayshe enjoyed a peaceful existence with her demon “father” until humans ended up killing the demon and thinking they rescued her from him. With her father murdered by humans, Ayshe ended up wanting the opposite of Norman and his crew; she wanted humans to suffer. Now knowing that Don and Gilda wish to save Mujika—and telling them her plan was to indeed save the demon too—it seems as if the kids have a new ally to rely on. However, in a secret meeting, Norman’s ally speaks with several large individuals with an ulterior motive…to kill the demons the minute they find them! It seems like a possible battle will ensue with those who find the demons first. Chapter 140 should be something special, but in the meantime, let us discuss why you absolutely must read chapter 139 of Yakusoku no Neverland!

1. Poor Ayshe

Ayshe’s past really made us weep a little here at Honey’s Anime. The fact that she was raised by a demon who—like her—was considered an undesirable, just made us feel for both the demon and child. The raw emotions of chapter 139 of Yakusoku no Neverland were incredible and it shows how well this series handles themes of segregation/isolation.

2. Friend

Last review we felt that Ayshe wasn’t a bad girl and it turns out we were right! Now with her in alliance with Don and Gilda, the team stands a better chance of saving the demons. However, as we saw in that final panel it will take their combined skill to stop the secret plot to eradicate the demons we’ve come to see as good.

Final Thoughts

Yakusoku no Neverland chapter 139 was a powerhouse of emotions this week. We learned about Ayshe and see her team up with our two kids.
