Aoi enjoys indoor hobbies and she is afraid of heights, and Hinata loves mountains and regularly pushes people around. These two childhood friends decide to challenge themselves by doing mountain climbing in order to once again see the sunrise at the summit of a mountain that they saw together as children. While being helped out by friends that they make on the way who have climbed mountains before, they once again aim to see that sunrise from the summit.

Yama no Susume has come back yet again with a season 3, and the great news is that it plays similarly to season 2 with episodes lasting a little more than 10 minutes. The focus is, yet again, on friendships and hiking. While the memories of the Mt Fuji trip still haunt Aoi, she’s diving back into hiking head on and will tackle it on again. This anime is cute, uplifting, and a great way to see the countrysides of Japan that we only get to explore in anime like Yuru Camp, Long Riders, and Bakuon. You just have to love how it just revolves around friendship and bonding over one love: hiking. It’s carefree and fun without too much drama. So far, I’m loving Yama no Susume season 3.
