Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Preview / Plot (No Spoilers)
It’s a show centered around a card game. People use cards to summon various beasts or activate spells against each other in what is known as an Action Duel. The goal is to inflict damage to your opponent and drop their health points to zero. With the help of “Solid Visions” technology, the beasts and areas are made tangible. Though thoroughly entertaining, the card game is just a backdrop to tell a narrative involving a variety of characters and often supernatural events.
The franchise is on its fifth iteration with Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. The main character is Yuya Sakaki. He is struggling to take on the mantle of being the world’s best duelist, a role left vacant after his father went missing. Yuya continues to battle other duelists to increase his skills and harden his beliefs on dueling for the crowd’s enjoyment. While this is going a couple of shady characters appear in town.
These people have been working in the shadows to incapacitate some very strong duelists. Their goals and origins are unknown, but it appears one of them bares a striking resemblance to our main character.
Yuya and his friends take on the responsibility of figuring out who these mysterious people are and bringing them to justice. Lies will be exposed and secrets revealed as these characters clash their mythical beasts in a brilliant display of strategy and unyielding will.
Who does Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V cater to?
Yu-Gi-Oh! has its sights set on people looking to watch exciting card battles. The biggest draw of the show, and where it spends the majority of its time, is on showcasing duels. The storyline is pretty intriguing but, the development is usually sidelined for several episodes to make time for show off some cool monsters and mind-games between opponents.
What's so appealing about this piece of work.
Long time fans have witnessed spectacular battles involving ancient beats and mesmerizing visuals. These duels bring in viewers and expose them to a world where they can collect card and battle just like the anime characters. People see these interesting creatures in the show and eagerly await for them to be released in the collectible card form. Because of the show’s popularity, the franchise has garnered a huge following in its actual TCG.
The mysteries around Yuya are just an enticing reasons to check out this show. The first mystery involves the whereabouts of the previous Action Duel Champion (and Yuya’s father) Yusho Sakaki. Why did he skip out on his match against Strong Ishijima in the finals of a tournament? Where has he gone off to? What did he become involved in?
Then there’s the mysterious Yuuto and his comrade Shay. What are their motives? How are they able to cause real destruction to the surrounding areas with just their duel cards? Why can they trap people inside cards? These are just a few of the questions that pop up early on in the series.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Main Characters List
Yuya Sakaki
Voice Actor :Ono, Kensho
Our teenage main character is the son of the previous Action Duel Champion, Yusho Sakaki. He dreams of taking filling in the role his father left. He draws deep inspiration from his father’s words of wisdom and from the support of his friends. He always has a light-hearted personality and enjoys dueling more than anyone else in the show.
He has had to face many obstacles on his way to becoming the best entertainment duelist. Luckily, he is one of the few people capable of pulling off a battle mechanic known as Pendulum Summoning. He uses this technique and his unyielding will to overcome formidable opponents and put on a show that the whole crowd can enjoy.
Reiji Akaba
Voice Actor : Hosoya, Yoshimasa
He is a 16 year old prodigy. His duel skills are among the best in the world and are classified as Super Elite. At the age of 15 he was certified to duel in the professional circuit. He is currently the CEO of Leo Corporation, which is the company that created the Solid Vision technology that brings Action Duels to life. It also owns Leo Duel School (LDS), the most prestigious Duel school.
Though he is relatively young he has a the serious demeanor and attitude of a mature adult. When the strangers start causing trouble in town, he immediately takes an interest. He even goes as far as to make a temporary alliance with Shay. Wary of these newcomers, he keeps Shay close to observe him and his powerful deck.
Yuuto
Voice Actor :Takagi, Manpei
Yuuto is also known as the Dark Masked Duelist. None of the main characters know his identity when he is first introduced. He has the same character design as Yuya, but he dresses in darker clothes and has a short-tempered attitude.
He seems to be Shay’s superior and is on a secret mission. He spies on LDS and its members. I can’t say too much more about him without giving away some major spoilers. But, he is a battle-hardened duelist with an incredibly strong deck composed of Xyz monsters.
