One day, Mitsuha wakes up in Taki's body, and finds herself in her dream life in Tokyo. At the same time, of course, Taki finds himself in Mitsuha's body, in the humble countryside. Both Mitsuha and Taki need answers about what happened, and so their adventure begins as they start looking for each other!Kimi no na wa. became a huge success; as a movie, it topped the box-office in Japan for 12 non-consecutive weekends. As a light novel anticipating the movie premiere by one month, it sold over 1.3 million copies. It says a lot about a story able to touch people's hearts!

These two works have both supernatural elements inserted in the lives of high school students, and middle school students, which gradually accentuate the drama part. Both these books deal with themes like time-travel, and feature Sci-Fi undertones, yet they focus on the daily deeds of young persons, and romance, too. It's true that the premises clearly say how Violet Evergarden and Kimi no Na wa have very different plots. Yet, the reason why Violet Evergarden is on this list is right because it shares with Kimi no na wa the most essential trait. Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki and Kimi no na wa are both heartfelt light novels sending the readers on a roller-coaster of feels and making them shed tears. Although different in their plots, these two stories share a good characterization, in-depth analysis of the characters, and light fantasy and Sci-Fi elements. It's not a stretch to say that if you enjoyed one, you'll end up enjoying the other all the same!
