Discussion Time

In this incredibly short chapter of Ao no Exorcist—there are only 15 pages—we come back to the birth of a certain demon baby who was silent when he arrived out of the womb. Despite the consensus wanting to take the child and run to an intensive care unit, they wait and watch the newborn. After a mother’s scream, our child screams out and unleashes a fragment of his demon power! Clearly, our child is alive and reunited with his mother for what should have been a calm reunion. That calmness abruptly ends when an explosion rocks the room and a certain head demon appears before everyone, Mephisto. What does Mephisto’s appearance signify? Honestly, we don’t have a clue but we do know our 116th chapter of Ao no Exorcist was a bit underwhelming. That’s why we have one reason you should read chapter 116 of Ao no Exorcist and one reason why skipping it won’t kill you.

Why You Should Read Ao No Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) Chapter 116

1. Birth!

Ao no Exorcist’s main star Rin has been born in the past which is kind of cute to see him being explosive as a newborn. Baby Rin is quite adorable—if you can look past the evil glowing eyes and demon powers—which made chapter 116 that much more bearable to read.

Why You Should Skip Ao No Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) Chapter 116

1. Underwhelming Appearance

We won’t lie and say we weren’t surprised to see Mephisto appear at the end of chapter 116 of Ao no Exorcist. Yet, even with that surprise, this 116th chapter lacked any real excitement. Chapter 115 was a thrilling experience that made us count the days until this 116th chapter released and in the end…nothing truly eventful happened. Yay, Rin has been born but we know this was going to happen—seeing as how he’s the star of the series—and we also knew it wasn’t going to be a simple birth. That’s why this chapter overall doesn’t feel too necessary in the grand scheme of things.

Final Thoughts

Ao no Exorcist 116 ended up being a semi-flat chapter. Rin has been born and his birth was indeed pretty eventful but beyond the appearance of Mephisto, the whole of the chapter felt too quick and too unnecessary. Our only hope is the 117th chapter of Ao no Exorcist has some more impactful moments but we once more need to wait a month till its release.
