Momo’s Playstyle

Momo has one of the more unique quirk abilities in the series, called the Bukijutsu, allowing her to forge weapons from her body to ward off any enemy. This gives her the advantage in a lot of scenarios, since her items can be used in a variety of ways. By holding down the triangle button you’re able to swap between three styles of weapon, a long-ranged staff, an iron pipe or a mid-ranged sword. All of these carry their own properties but for the most part, they allow you to control the space between you and the enemy very well. If you want to go on the offensive just quickly switch to the mid-ranged sword or iron pipe, and if you want to keep your opponent at bay then equip the long staff and annoy them.

Momo also has the ability to create grenades that can help to keep opponents away and create safe spacing, but they can also be used in an aggressive manner to lock down the enemy on wake up or throw off their aggressive approach. Her other long-ranged ability allows her to create a laser cannon that shoots out a beam of light that can stop opponents from approaching, but be mindful that if used too much, it can leave you open as it has a slow recovery. Momo’s combos really hurt a lot because of her ability to send her opponents high into the air, so call a strong assist to lock them in and then restart the combo again. The whirlwind effect of her special attack leaves the enemy in somewhat of a stun state after being hit, so you can easily create a reset situation shortly after. You’ll need to be quick though because the opponent can tech-out and punish you for being greedy.

Momo’s Preferred Sidekicks

Momo likes to stay at a certain range most of the time, mostly mid-range, and so you’ll want assists that can help to make her approach a little easier. Since most of her attacks are on the slow side, you’ll need quick assists like All Might who move in quickly, and help to lock down the enemy from afar giving you the chance to confirm into damage. Fumikage is also a very strong assist because similar to Momo, he can control a large portion of the stage, which can help to play a strong defensive game and annoy any impatient players who try to land a free hit.

All for One is another exceptional assist because of its ability to lock enemies in place from a distance , giving Momo the chance to rush in and attack from either the ground or the air. She’s all about versatility but that comes with a price since she’s a little on the slow side in terms of her attacks. When playing her, just be mindful of that and don’t overcommit, otherwise you may end up eating a lot of unnecessary damage. Aizawa is also another amazing assist that works similarly to All for One, so it’s really up to you who you prefer! We can’t forget Denki as well since his electric traps are a great tool to force the opponent into staying in place, giving you the chance to chase them and dish out the damage!

Final Thoughts

In the end, Momo should generally be played from mid-range as that’s really her strong point, since her tools have more range than most characters in the game. She doesn’t really shine in the rushdown category, so it’s imperative to supplement her strengths with assists that can help make her well-rounded approach more effective. We hope you found this quick breakdown to make things easier for you moving forward, and hopefully those who enjoy a balanced approach to fighting will find Momo to be the perfect pick!
