My Hero One’s Justice is an all-out arena style fighting game that introduces the popular My Hero Academia cast of characters into the fighting game universe. If you’re a huge fan of the series, then this game should be a no brainer purchase because with constant updates and DLC on the way, there’s no telling what new characters will pop up! Speaking of characters, in today’s character breakdown we’ll be taking a look at the adorable and super powerful Uraraka Ochaco, who’s definitely a force to be reckoned with in this game. Hopefully after reading this breakdown you’ll be able to break down your opponents and take home the win, securing your spot as the number one Hero!
The last time we covered the ice and fire wielding specialist, Shoto Todoroki, but today we’ll be defying gravity with fan favorite Ochaco! She is able to control gravity, allowing her to float in the air or to manipulate objects for use against the enemy. In My Hero One’s Justice, her abilities come in handy big time as she becomes a threat from mid-long range with her rock-tossing special, using them as projectiles to maintain spacing. Along with these rocks, she can also use a huge pillar and swing it at enemies, which acts as a multiple hitting move, creating safe block-string pressure. While she does have these mid-long range tools to disrupt her enemy’s approach, her strong point is being up-close and personal, as she dishes out an absurd amount of damage both on the ground and in the air. Once she hits you then expect to feel the pain as her aerial combos are very long and can send you flying across the screen to help keep you off of her, but also to reset neutral and force your opponent to find a way in again.
Players will definitely have to respect Ochaco’s approach because it’s quite deceptive at times. While some of her moves do have some slow startup, such as her command grab special, she can optimize them in various ways to keep things safe and avoid taking unnecessary damage. Basically, what you want to do with Ochaco is to distract the enemy by tossing rocks at them, forcing them to block and once they’re conditioned, that’s when you start rushing them down and put on the pressure.
Ochaco’s Preferred Sidekicks
To coincide with what we mentioned earlier, Ochaco can put some serious amount of pressure on the opponent since her rock-throw and pillar-swing attacks are relatively safe if you space them well. If you want to create momentum then you’ll need the right sidekicks to help out not only for defense but most importantly, her deadly offense. Her best sidekicks to help extend her combos are Tsuyu, Iida, or Tomura Shigaraki. Tsuyu’s assist ability grabs you, then throws you directly at the opponent, which helps you to continue your pressure, or if you’re on the defense to simply avoid extra damage. This is good for Ochaco since her aerial Plus Ultra sends the enemy downward and so, Tsuyu can throw you directly at the enemy to extend her combo even further and rack on some serious damage. Iida does something similar but instead of grabbing you, he focuses primarily on the enemy, giving them a swift kick downward to bounce them back up into the air in order for you to combo again. Tomura is mainly for ground control after a knockdown, as his dark matter puddle can create a 50/50 scenario and your opponent will either have to sit there and block or try to avoid it altogether, which isn’t easy. This creates a fantastic balance for Ochaco since she can control both the ground and the air and leave her opponent guessing.
Uraraka Ochaco is really all about pressure and making sure her opponent doesn’t have much room to breathe, so if you like a character who can lock-down the enemy and deal solid damage, then Ochaco is your best pick. We of course encourage you to try out the other sidekicks to see which work in your favor, but the ones we suggested will certainly elevate your offensive game even more. Our next character breakdown will be focusing on Kyoka and Momo, so be sure to tune next time!
