What makes one character the best waifu? The answer would certainly be different from one viewer to the next. That being said, some general criteria could still be used in order to decide who is the best waifus of any given series. Such as their attractive appearance, unique personality, and their interaction with the main characters.
This season showcases a lot of interesting female characters that could easily fulfill all of aforementioned criteria. Alas, we could only feature five of them in this article. So here are our picks for the best five waifus of the Fall 2021 anime season!
5. Destiny From Takt Op. Destiny
Takt Op. Destiny is a series with a rather unique premise. A conductor and his personal musicart have to fight against monsters called D2 with the help of music. Musicarts themselves are former humans that gain the ability to destroy D2s, while the conductors are the one that can control the musicarts. Imagine the Fate series but with music.
Destiny is the name of the main musicart in this series, while Takt is her conductor. At first, Destiny was a girl by the name of Cosette. She was a kind-hearted girl who was always thinking of what was best for Takt. But once she turned into a musicart, she basically became a new person. She acts and speaks differently, but the care and love for Takt is definitely still there.
Both of them clearly love each other and watching their interaction throughout the series is so interesting, hilarious, and also bittersweet. And the way Destiny transitions between a reliable partner who can help Takt dealing with D2s and a helpless girl who constantly craves attention from Takt is what makes her such a strong candidate for the best waifu.
4. Miko Yotsuya From Mieruko-Chan
Unlike every other girl in this list, Miko is the main character in Mieruko-chan. She is a high school girl who suddenly gains the ability to see ghosts. Not the sweet and sympathetic ghost like in Anohana, but grotesque and disfigured ghosts that you might find in Japanese horror films.
Needless to say, Miko is scared out of her wits at every waking moment. She sees ghosts in the streets, at the school, at her house, everywhere. And yet she stands her ground. She grits her teeth and ignores those pesky ghosts as best as she can. And that strong determination is what makes her attractive. And of course, she's also beautiful.
3. Maha From Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat)
Maha is another outlier in this list because she is not the main girl, by any means. In this series, you will see several different girls before you even get to Maha. Not only that, her overall screen time throughout the series is also rather low compared to other best waifus candidates.
So why is she the one who ends up in this list? Well, the reason is that she fulfills all of the characteristics of the best waifus. She is attractive and she can properly support the main character to the point that he is basically quite dependent on her.
But the most important part is simply because she knows what she wants, she knows how to get it, and she's not afraid to say what's on her mind. And yet, she is still very down to earth and deeply cares about the well-being of the people closest to her.
2. Eris Boreas Greyrat From Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation)
Mushoku Tensei has many interesting female characters. But when it comes to the best waifu material, you can arguably narrow them down to three options; Sylphy, Roxy, and Eris. Every fan of the series will certainly have their own preference as to which one of them is the best, but for this article, the winner is Eris.
The reason is character development. If there's an award for best tsundere anime girl of the year, then Eris will easily claim the top prize. She was a very difficult girl at the beginning of the series, but as the story progressed, she began to take notice of her surroundings, she learned to control her emotion, she got stronger, and more refined both as a fighter and as a lady.
She is no longer afraid to show her feelings and act on it. If the other waifu candidates in Mushoku tensei are willing and certainly capable to support Rudy, then Eris takes it one step further. She strives to be strong and reliable enough so that Rudy doesn't even have to fight in the first place.
1. Rit From Shin no Nakama ja Nai to Yuusha no Party wo Oidasareta node, Henkyou de Slow Life suru Koto ni Shimashita (Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside)
Other than the aforementioned criteria, there is actually one other element that can decide whether a certain female character can be considered best waifu or not, which is her tendency and desire to be, well..., the best wife.
And there's no other candidate for this category other than Rit. She is a princess of a vast nation and yet she is willing to throw it all just to be with her loved one, Red. She never hesitates to show her feelings with the appropriate action, and she is more than capable of helping Red with his new adventure in the countryside.
She can handle price negotiation, come up with ideas for products and how to market them, and she is more than capable of subduing strong enemies. And yet, she also likes to get spoiled by Red and wants nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with him. Rit is definitely one of the most lovable characters in this list and without a doubt the best waifu this season.
When it comes to who is the best waifu of them all, the answer will inevitably come to the personal preference of every viewer. But all things considered, out of every anime that came out this fall, these five characters are arguably the ones that deserve that title.
That being said, this is certainly not a representation of everybody's pick. So whether you agree with this list or not, let us know in the comment section below. Or better yet, please share your personal pick of the best waifu in fall 2021.
