BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense is back with a new season. Like last season, this season is filled with crazy but funny scenes surrounding Maple, her friends, and her unique playstyle.

Based on the light novel of the same name, Kaede Honjo was invited by her friend to play the new virtual MMO game. She created a character with max defense because she hates being in pain. Thanks to her max defense, though, she soon became one of the strongest players in the game. She met other strong players and even created the Maple Tree Guild, which became famous after a successful event. With new development coming into the game, Maple and guild continue to explore the world alongside their friends while also making the developers crazy.

What do we think about BOFURI Season 2 so far? Here are our first impressions for the season!

Maple Returns with Even More Crazy Skills

Undoubtedly, one of the charm points of BOFURI is Maple herself. Her simple-minded, unique playstyle and how she gains so many crazy skills have left her audience baffled and in awe. She has often surprised us with how she used those skills, even leaving us laughing at how unbelievable how she uses her skills. We don't see that in real life, after all.

In BOFURI: I Don't Want To Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense Season 2, Maple returns as her charming self. Like the first season, she continues to stumble upon and gain even more outrageous skills after another. One thing that we found funny is how the developers of the virtual MMO game are starting to go crazy and even made it their goal to stop Maple as if she were the last boss they must defeat.

A Bit More Spotlight On Other Supporting Casts

Maple isn't the only one gaining such powerful skills. Her guild members in Maple Tree Guild are also gaining strong skills. While it's nice to see Maple fight using the different abilities in her arsenal, it's also good to see other supporting casts and their battles once in a while too. A couple of them seem to also use their skills in ways that we never thought of using. Did Maple influence them? Probably, but we won't know until we watch the rest of the series.

Unexpected 3D Needs Improvement Or Shouldn't Be There At All

The one thing we did not expect was the unexpected CGI. In one or two battle scenes, we got their battle shown in 3D in the middle of the episode. We believed we understood why they used CGI, but suddenly, using them in the middle of a fight scene was off-putting. Also, the direction of the CGI used during the battle scenes was all over the place. They switch from 2D to 3D and vice versa, and there are certain parts of the scene where 2D is appropriate to use, but instead, they show it in 3D. If we have to be honest, this sudden shift to 3D for the battle scenes isn't really necessary; however, if the producers want to continue to use CGI, they would need to make many improvements for it to work.

Final Thoughts

Maple returns in BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense Season 2 with more adventures and even more crazy skills. Even though it's been a while since the first season, the things that made BOFURI enjoyable to watch haven't faded. Although suddenly changing from 2D to 3D was unexpected. We wonder how they will handle the CGI from here on out or if they will continue using them throughout the series. Nevertheless, we are excited to see what more crazy skills Maple will learn and how crazy the game developers will be in trying to stop Maple.
