Discussion Time

Chapter 257 of Boku no Hero Academia almost feels at first like an overly simplified entry in the series. All-Might has gained knowledge of previous users of One For All and we learn that they all indeed had their own powers in conjunction with One For All. Deku has access to various new powers—like BlackWhip used by Daigoro—but can only harness it for a brief second. What makes this knowledge so intriguing is that all users of One For All weren’t blessed with powerful Quirks but with this legendary added Quirk seemed to be able to become considerably stronger. Even All-Might’s master had a simple ability called Float but we know she was considerably stronger and that must mean One For All enhances Quirks and gives the user access to previous users’ abilities as well! Deku will need to train considerably if he wishes to obtain this level of mastery but we know he’s no slouch for trying his hardest.

After our history lesson, Deku joins the other UA students for a nice dinner and everything seems to be going well. All-Might meets Eraser Head outside the campus where we learn Eri will be trained soon and All-Might is ready to help out. All-Might is ready to continue living and he wishes to help his students succeed where he once reigned supreme. Unfortunately, our chapter doesn’t end on a good note, hence our title. In March, we see a curious doctor walking the beat of a hospital and then learn that heroes around the city have begun to vanish! Is this hero disappearing act happening due to Tomura’s re-birth? We can’t wait to find out but for now, here are some reasons why you need to read chapter 257 as soon as possible!

Why You Should Read Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) Chapter 257

1. Simple Power For Impressive Heroes

We still don’t know a lot about One For All but we are beginning to piece together what this power can do. As evident by Deku’s new abilities—and those of the previous users—One For All acts as a secondary special Quirk that allows the hero to tap into the past users. While the heroes of the past weren’t that amazing with the individual Quirks, with One For All, their power was enhanced tenfold!

2. Missing Heroes!?

Chapter 257’s ending is easily the biggest cliffhanger of recent Boku no Hero Academia chapters. We learn that in March heroes have begun to vanish! We have some theories as to why they are missing but we will have to wait for future chapters to confirm our suspicions.

Final Thoughts

Boku no Hero Academia 257 at first seemed like it would be just another brief history lesson for One For All but it turned out to be a big eye-opener! Not only do we know past users had other Quirks aside from One For All but their powers were extremely simple prior to them gaining this secondary Quirk! However, the biggest surprise of the chapter is definitely the ending and now we have to wonder…who is missing?
