Discussion Time
Chapter 258 of Boku no Hero Academia wasn’t what we expected and that isn’t a compliment. Once more, we have a flashback to when Hawks gave a hint to Endeavor about the hospital. Hawks and Twice discuss the systems at play for the Liberation Army and how the teams will be split into several groups. Each group will have a primary objective as they spread across and conquer areas of the country.
Hawks plays a convincing hero-turned-villain as he discusses the plans to free the world and unleash All for One as the “second coming”. Twice meanwhile seems to love Hawks due to his caring actions and even reveals—something we know already—how Tomura was being kept in a secret location to undergo his metamorphosis. Hawks then comes to a realization that due to Twice’s actions in fighting against his fears he has truly become a worrisome individual. While Twice might be a truly scary villain, he has taken a liking to Hawks and we have to wonder if this will play a critical role later if Hawks’ identity as a double agent gets revealed.
The chapter ends on a pretty simple note. Numerous heroes from all over begin a big match in the city. At the end of spring, our heroes—both pro and not—are to undertake a mission to help other heroes who are evacuating the city. Will this mission be as simple as it seems? In our minds, the heroes are marching towards danger and we hope it excites us more than this chapter of Boku no Hero Academia did. Here’s why you absolutely need to reach chapter 258 and also a reason why you can pass on it entirely.
1. Twice and Hawks
If there is anything to take away from chapter 258 of Boku no Hero Academia it has to be the companionship shared between Hawks and Twice. While Hawks is clearly playing a role to get the trust from the army, we can see from his facial expressions there’s a bit of care towards Twice in his heart. Twice, meanwhile, seems to adore Hawks and that makes us wonder…will these two end up facing each other in a future chapter?
1. Unnecessary Backstory
Many elements of this week’s Boku no Hero Academia felt…unnecessary. Yes, we see camaraderie between Twice and Hawks and see a bit of their past inner workings but, did we really get information that is truly important? We now know there are multiple groups to spread across the country but to dedicate an entire chapter to this info and the relationship between a spy and villain? In our opinions, this could have been casually thrown in during an earlier chapter or spread across several chapters.
Final Thoughts
Boku no Hero Academia 258 wasn’t a truly horrible chapter as it shows the next big move by our heroes and a past relationship that could cause some issues in the future. Yet, the entire chapter feels like a skippable affair. Do you agree that you can easily skip over this chapter or do you think the relationship between Hawks and Twice was enough of a reason to read chapter 258? Let us know in the comments below!
