Boku no Hero Academia chapter 259 started with our mad doctor and a bit of his past. Maruta Shiga—who has no apparent Quirk thus making him Quirkless—seemed to be a true beacon for doctors all around. Not only did Shiga excel in his studies of Quirks but he even founded his own hospital and began creating communities focused on Quirk research! However, somewhere along the line, Shiga became corrupt and thanks to Naomasa’s internal team we know he’s responsible for a lot of nasty happenings. As we learn, within the morgue section of the hospital lies a secret room and even a tiny version of a Nomu! With all this information in our heroes’ hands, the time for action begins, though saving some lives needs to happen before the assault on the hospital can commence!
The big move from the pros is to save those within the city around the hospital. Pros and trainees line up and begin their infiltration, immediately nabbing an old traitor hero—Slidin’ Go—and then getting civilians out of possible harm’s way. As the doctor continues his rounds, Endeavor quickly makes his presence known and the doctor’s end panel shows a truly shocked face as he meets his possible end! Is this plan this simple? or was the doctor prepared? We’ll find out in chapter 260 but, for now, here are a few reasons to check out 259 first!
1. Not so Perfect Doctor
Doctor Maruta Shiga hasn’t had much of an origin explained in Boku no Hero Academia but we’ve finally gotten a small glimpse at his past…which doesn’t seem all that bad. Here at Honey’s Anime, we expected the doctor to have a dark start but it seems as if he was loved by all and respected in the medical field! What transpired to make him go from kind soul to evil mastermind?
2. Without a Hitch?
The pro-heroes have already begun their plan and it seems to be going abnormally smoothly. The civilians are being rescued/protected and Endeavor has met Maruta in a truly shocking way. However, in our minds…this won’t be as simple and things are probably going to awry soon.
Final Thoughts
Boku no Hero Academia 259 was a lot stronger than last week’s chapter and avoided unnecessary plot devices and backstories. For the first time, we’ve learned more about Shiga and are curious why he went from good too bad for apparently no reason. Chapter 260 will probably have a surprise in store for us fans and the wait may kill us a bit.
