Denji is the main character of this story. He says he’s 16 years old. When his father died, he left a huge debt for Denji to take care of and he decided to do so by selling his organs on the black market while living a poor lifestyle. After meeting with Pochita he becomes a devil hunter for a living and mainly works for the yakuza. He gets a job to kill the zombie devil, but during that mission the yakuza, who have turned into zombies themselves, almost killed Denji. Because of this, Pochita saved his life by becoming Denji’s heart and reviving his body. This allowed Denji to transform into the chainsaw devil. After finishing off both the zombie devil and the yakuza, Makima takes Denji under her wing and lets him work as a devil hunter in public safety.

Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil who looks like a dog. He has a chainsaw blade on his forehead and the back of his head, with a handle for a tail.

Makima is Denji’s superior. She’s a devil hunter who works with the chief cabinet security and only a very selected few are allowed to know who she is. For the most part she’s nice and open-minded, but she can also be very serious and determined. She’s a mysterious beauty who Denji admires a lot.

Aki is Denji’s superior by three years. He’s very strict with Denji who’s selfish and rude, but he also has high hopes for him as a hunter. He “owes his life” to Makima, and thus he has feelings for her.

Power is Denji’s partner, and a “Blood Devil.” She looks like she could be in her late teens. She has two horns on the top of her head. Among all the devils, she is very intelligent. As Power is close to humans, Makima has protected and raised, as well as trained her.

Himeno is Denji’s superior and Aki’s partner. Her trademark is her eyepatch. She’s very beautiful and has a cheerful personality. She loves alcohol but can become quite wild when she’s drunk. She has a tendency to kiss people when drunk and is prone to other eccentric behavior.

The gun devil appears at random all over the world and can kill up to 1.1 million people within seven minutes. The gun devil itself can disappear, but when it gets closer other devils will feel its presence and get scared, despite actually getting stronger. This is the devil that Makima is hunting.
