Oppai, butts, and a main character who gains points by being perverse. Ore dake Haireru Kakushi Dungeon (The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter) has certainly piqued our interest here at Honey’s Anime and it’s not hard to understand why.
Here’s a question, though. Is this hidden dungeon worth your time or should you look for your fantasy adventure—with a nice amount of ecchi—in another dungeon? Why don’t we find out in our three-episode impression of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter!
Ecchi Elements Done Right
Otaku like us don’t ever hate lots of fan service but will admit it can diminish even the best anime. Luckily, The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter has proven—so far—that it isn’t trying to be the next High School DxD or Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon. The Hidden Dungeon relies on beautiful girls—with perfect figures—and a plethora of harem-themed comedy to make you smile, laugh, and make your chair fill with nosebleed joy.
By the third episode of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter, we are noticing that this series isn’t trying to flood your senses with constant images of oppai and panty shots like many anime try to do. Instead, The Hidden Dungeon aims to use perverted comedy with a nice mixture of fantasy/adventure themes. Noir—our main lucky man—is kindhearted and occasionally passive, making him not overly perverted but equally aware of his sexual drive. Add to the fact that our Noir gains LP—points he needs to utilize his creation skill—when he performs perverted actions gives The Hidden Dungeon Only a nice means to explain why he’s being such a pervert. It might sound silly to have a main hero make out or get his face/body rubbed on by a butt—legit happens in episode 3—but The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter isn’t trying to be a serious anime even when it does have occasional drama within.
A Bevy of Beauties
Need some new waifu in your life? Who doesn’t, right? The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter has already given us several anime waifu who are impressing us already and that’s only three episodes in! Who are these lovely ladies? Well let’s discuss our favorites really fast and why they help sell The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter.
Emma Brightness and Lola are two of our favorite ladies from The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter and it isn’t hard to see why. Emma is Noir’s childhood friend—why can’t we have these childhood friends in real life—who uses her massive oppai to make Noir smile and isn’t ashamed to make out with him to raise his LP. Lola—introduced in episode 2—is the series guild girl who gives adventures assignments to take on and quickly falls in love with Noir due to his creation power. The series already seems to have more ladies ready to join Noir on his hero adventure and we can’t wait to see if they can best these two beauties!
Fun Adventure Series
The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter shows from the first episode that it isn’t trying to be an epic adventure fantasy or even a serious one. If the title isn’t extremely obvious enough, Noir’s strength/abilities lie in that he found a dungeon only one other has found. Noir gains a special ability—creation—which in turn is why he needs LP. Without LP, Noir can’t use his new ability and can also die! Thankfully, Noir is able to gain this coveted form of MP by being a pervert. The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter isn’t trying to be an epic adventure filled with tension and death, this is an ecchi harem but one that is fun and silly. We need more shows like this!
Noir’s Power Is Intriguing
Noir is overpowered, if we’re being honest. However, The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter is keenly aware that Noir’s ability has a huge flaw that equally keeps our hero from always winning. Plus, it gives Noir a reason to make out with Emma. Noir’s creation skill also hasn’t proven to always save the day—as in the case with a new girl who has a curse he can’t remove—which keeps the OP Noir from being the next Kirito from Sword Art Online. We can’t wait to see creation being used in other fun ways—though we hope no more oppai reduction moments—and if the series will always keep Noir from being truly god-like.
Final Thoughts
The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter’s first three episodes have impressed us otaku here at Honey’s Anime. Despite the fear that harem/ecchi anime can come across as overbearing, The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter has used those themes in a smart—and silly—way which gives us hope for the rest of the series.
