5. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Season 2 Part 2 (Re: Zero - Starting Life in Another World 2)

Our list starts with the sequel of Re:Zero. Re:Zero starts when an average otaku, Subaru Natsuki is transported into a fantasy world. Tormented by the trials that drive Emilia to madness, Subaru’s sanity is stretched further by the visions he sees of his past deaths when he used Return by Death. In order to give his loved ones a “happy ending” whether it involves him or not, Subaru was about to make a deal with Echidna which was interrupted by Satella. This upsets Echidna and the series ends with a teaser of “The Witch” and Subaru wishing to make a contract with Beatrice instead. We still don’t know who The Witch is. Are Echidna’s plans ruined? Should Subaru be grateful to Satella? Is his death the only solution to a happy ending? We’re all eagerly waiting for the next season!

1. Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season (Attack on Titan: The Final Season)

The most anticipated anime of Winter 2021 is inevitably Attack on Titan with its final season. The anime is set in a dystopian world where humans live behind the safety of the walls that protect them from Titans, creatures who eat humans for sport. Season 3 Part 2 of Attack on Titan ended with the Survey Corps uncovering the story of the origin of Titans and the vast world that stretches beyond the walls. They learn about the citizens of Marley who only have contempt for the people behind the walls. Will ideals be tested when the survival of humanity is more than what they think? With Eren as the coordinate, will they win against Marley? Will Reiner’s emotions be swayed between Marley and the Survey Corps? The final season, that already started, shows promise as we learn more about the citizens of Marley and why they are against the people behind the walls.

Final Thoughts

While this list only focuses on the Top 5, we also wanted to include some honorable mentions whose sequels are just as anticipated by its fanbase: Beastars Season 2 and World Trigger Season 2. Beastars stood out in Fall 2019 with its anthropomorphic animals and the tension between herbivores and carnivores in a civilized society. World Trigger is an sci-fi anime that left its fans waiting for a new season since 2016 and it’s finally here with more shounen sci-fi elements to add spice to this season’s lineup!
