Over 3000 years ago in ancient China, the emperor Chuuou was a wise ruler accomplished in both the literary and military arts. However, when he welcomed the unrivaled beauty Dakki as his empress, the once-brilliant ruler turned into an empty husk of his former self.

Under the evil nymph Dakki’s spell, Chuuou became a puppet. Meanwhile, Dakki and her comrades controlled the dynasty and preyed on its people whilst living a life of luxury.

Taikoubou

Voice Actor: Kensho Ono

Taikoubou is also known as Ryobou. After losing his parents at a very young age, the founder of Konron, Genshi Tenson, raised and trained him. Even though he came to have Sennin (sage) level power, he has been treated as a mere Daoist (priest) due to his lazy nature. However, he still was entrusted with the responsibility of the Houshin Project by Genshi Tenson. He pretends to be a blockhead to those around him, but even in Konron, his level of intelligence is rare.

Sibuxiang

Voice Actor: Takahiro Sakurai

At first glance, Sibuxiang looks like a hippo, but he is actually a fully-fledged sacred beast. He is the means of transport for Taikoubou. He serves dutifully as a good-hearted companion. At first, he was fed up with Taikoubou’s irresponsibility, but he gradually learned of the troubles and hidden determination Taikoubou had and began to respect him. He eagerly works for Taikoubou’s sake.

Nataku

Voice Actor: Makoto Furukawa

Nataku has had three Paopei as a part of his body since he was born. He is also able to wield and control their power at the same time. He fearlessly rises to face any enemy regardless of who they are, and even though he appears human, he lacks emotions. His fault is that if he is up against a strong enemy, he doesn’t really consider the before and after before he charges in.

Youzen

Voice Actor: Yuuichi Nakamura

Youzen is a beautiful Daoist who has the Sennin name of Seigen Myoudou Shinkun. His rank is that of a Daoist, however he has a great amount of fighting ability that surpasses the Twelve Sennin of Konron (Konron Juunisen), and he is one of the revered individuals within Konron. He was ordered to be an advisor to Taikoubou by Genshi Tenson, but…

Tenka Kou

Voice Actor: KENN

Tenka is Hiko’s second son. He underwent training with Seikyo Doutoku Shinkun at Mt. Konron. He has joined up with Hiko Kou’s group. He has an extremely refreshing personality that is able to dispel any uncertainty and pull everyone together. However, unlike his exterior, he has an incredibly unexpected fighting spirit and when it comes to fighting, his attachment to it is redoubled.

Hiko Kou

Voice Actor: Yoshimasa Hosoya

Hiko is the firstborn son of the Kou family and is the leader as well. He works as Chinkoku Busei Ou and supervises over the military for the entire country. An expert in Boujutsu and having a Sennin bone, he can unleash terrifying attacks with his large body. He has a strong force of will and as expected, has an amazing amount of fighting ability that could rival a Sennin. With his broadminded personality and tolerance, he is respected dearly by many.

Shinjin Fugen

Voice Actor: Nobunaga Shimazaki

Shinjin is one of the Twelve Sennin of Konron (Konron Juunisen) who excels in physics. Taikoubou was in the same class as Shinjin, so they get on well. He is extremely intelligent even though he looks sickly. Shinjin is a pacifist who does not like conflict. However, the Paopei that he uses, Taikyokufuin, is very powerful, so he possesses great fighting strength as well.

Bunchuu

Voice Actor: Tomoaki Maeno

For more than 300 years, Bunchuu has served as a Grand Minister for Yin. Through this he has helped Yin with political, military, and other multifarious areas throughout the country. Bunchuu trained on the island of Kingou. Together with Dakki and Koumei Chou, they are referred to as The Top 3. He is a moderate individual who knows just how powerful he is. Thus, he bans the use of his own powers in the human world. He has come to think of of Yin, which he has served for successive generations, as his own child, and thus, when anyone rises against Yin, he goes all out with full force to mercilessly crush them.
