One resident of this city, which was once a thriving futuristic metropolis, is high schooler Katsuhira Agata - who for some strange reason cannot feel pain.

One day just before the summer holidays, Katsuhira is chosen by a mysterious girl called Noriko Sonozaki to become one of the 'Kiznaiver' - a group of people who share pain.

Then there are his classmates, who are also connected as Kiznaiver. But this group were never exactly friendly with each other, and belonged to different social groups.

According to Sonozaki, this is an experiment in order to lead this world, which is full of conflict, to peace. Along with these words, many trials befall them.

This is the story of these young men and women who bear each other's wounds, and the one summer they spent together.

Katsuhira Agata

A second-year high school student, living in Sugomori. A young man who rarely feels anything emotionally or physically. He has no interest himself, never mind other people - and has some self awareness of this fact.

Noriko Sonozaki

Voice Actor: Hibiku Yamamura

A young girls whose words and actions are a complete mystery. Her lack of emotional sensitivity is even worse than Katsuhira's, in that she doesn't show any human kindness.

Chidori Takashiro

Voice Actor: Yuka Terasaki

Katsuhira's childhood friend. Worries about Katsuhira whenever anything happens. Good in that she cares, bad in that she meddles.

Hajime Tenga

Voice Actor: Tomoaki Maeno

A muscle maniac whose body acts before his brain. His words may be abrasive, but he feels deeply, and you can trust every word that comes out of his mouth.

Niko Niiyama

Voice Actor: Misaki Kuno

A girl whose words and actions are as unique as her fashion sense. A naïve oddball who's got a few screws loose.

Tsuguhito Yuta

Voice Actor: Nobunaga Shimazaki

An honours student with excellent manners and a good reputation amongst those around him (in particular the girls). However, he is also calculating and underhanded. Cold and distant with other boys.

Honoka Maki

Voice Actor: Rina Satou

A silent, scholarly girl who dislikes to hang around with large groups of people. She can be quite harsh and unfriendly, and often spits scathing remarks.

Yoshiharu Hisomu

Voice Actor: Koutarou Nishiyama

He may have multiple piercings and bandages, but no one can deny that he's a super gorgeous guy - at least his face, anyway.
