I'll say. I love a good mystery like Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru and Subete ga F ni Naru. I am ready for more.

Look at Kiyotaka. He's a total slice of chiffon cake and I need the whole thing.

Synopsis

Standing alone in the Teramachi Sanjou shopping district in Kyoto, there is an antique store called ‘Kura.’ By coincidence, high school female student Aoi Mashiro gets to know the son of the owner of Kura, Kiyotaka, and ends up working there part-time. Kiyotaka has a soft demeanor with a frightfully sharp intuition. In fact, people refer to him as ‘Holmes’. Together, they undertake various requests concerning antiques that customers bring to them.

Three Episode Impression

At first, I thought Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes was going to be some sort of bishounen anime, but really, it’s a slice of life anime about a girl and her new life in the city, where she ends up getting employed at an antique shop. This anime reminds me a bit of Rokuhoudou from last season where it’s mostly light hearted and different stories are told of clientele, but there are some melodramatic moments, especially involving Aoi and her feelings about her ex and best friend. While Aoi tends to be moody, it’s an enjoyable watch. Just be prepared for melodrama. I do like the touches of realism involving the Saoi-dai and the Aoi Matsuri in Kyoto in the most recent episode. It was a great little cultural lesson. The anime is nothing like Hyouka, nor is the Holmes bit that fascinating, but it’s a good for a casual watch.

Characters & Voice Actors List

Aoi Mashiro

Voice Actor: Miyu Tomita

Aoi is a second-year high school student who just moved to Kyoto from Oomiya in Saitama Prefecture. After she brings an antique of her grandfathers into Kura for a certain reason, she ends up working there part-time. She has a straightforward personality and an excellent eye for intuitively picking up on the value of antiques and their authenticity.

Kiyotaka Yagashira

Voice Actor: Kaito Ishikawa

Kiyotaka, nicknamed ‘Holmes’, is a 22-year-old graduate student. He’s an apprentice appraiser at Kura, and thus, he handles appraising. Kiyotaka is beautiful, has a soft demeanor, and is of irreproachable conduct, but in order to be accepted by himself and others, he has a scheming, rigid personality. He loves cafés and is good at making coffee.

Akihito Kajiwara

Voice Actor: Ryouhei Kimura

Akihito is a novice actor. He’s a good looking guy with light colored hair and appears to be half-Japanese. His father is a famous author. Due to both being raised in Kyoto as well as the influence of his parents, he speaks standard Japanese. His personality is honest to a fault, and he has an antagonistic view of Kiyotaka.

Rikyuu Takiyama

Voice Actor: Sanae Kobayashi

Rikyuu is a bratty yet beautiful young boy. He’s been as cute as a little girl since he was little, so he now studies martial arts to train his body. He has also went to study abroad in France to study Judo. He excessively respects and cares for Kiyotaka, so he can have a severe attitude when it comes to Aoi.

Enshou

Voice Actor: Kouji Yuusa

It is said that Enshou is genius fraudster. He previously was studying to become a monk, but after meeting with Kiyotaka, he returned to his life of being a counterfeiter. He keeps his head cleanly shaven and his style is wearing Japanese clothes (a kimono without a hakama) and carrying a folding fan. He is unnaturally skilled with his hands, has excellent physical power, and a sharp eye.
