This time, we were invited to check out Mobile Edge’s Core Gaming Backpack w/ Molded Panel, Mobile Edge’s flagship product and deserving of the title, we think. We met up with Paul June, Vice President of Marketing for Mobile Edge, and he gave us the rundown on their awesome product.

To start, Mobile Edge used to be a part of Alienware, designing all of the backpack product and other carrying cases as well. They’ve been doing it for a while that they finally got the recognition they deserved for their efforts and hard work in producing some of the best quality gaming products out there. Paul showed us their Core Gaming Backpack which is available in two different versions, one with a velcro shell and the other with a smooth material aching to rubber suade—I forget what that material is called… With the velcro shell, you add patches to your pack or anything that will work with velcro, really.

The first thing Paul showed us from the Core Gaming Backpack was the zip-down compartment located on the back of the pack where the shoulder straps are, it opens up completely to lay flat on a surface, making it TSA friendly when going through checkpoints. This helps to eliminate the use of extra bins at the airport when you need to take out your PC separately. This idea and function alleviates the need for extra work and makes it faster to get through TSA as well. Of course, if the TSA agent asks you to take it out regardless, then do it. While it is TSA friendly, it isn’t quite TSA approved so don’t depend on it too much but overall, there have been no issues ever. So if you are a traveling businessman how is constantly on the go, this bag is perfect for you, hands-down. The slot fits a 17 inch PC so you can easily carry just about any type, it even can carry gaming consoles as well.

When you open up the bag, inside you have dedicated slots for your keyboard, headset and cable management. There is also a cross-over opening within the bag that is used for you PC charging via USB. There is a USB port attached to the backpack and inside is a dedicated pouch for your pre external PC charger. Being able to charge on the go is the thing of the future! On the outside of the bag, you have additional compartments for other items you may need or want to bring with you, those are places to store them. There is also a mouse pouch in the bag as well, and there is even a pouch for a water bottle. You gotta stay hydrated.
