Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2) Review – The Journey Doesn’t End at the Destination

Introduction and Story

--- Spoilers Ahead ---

Rudeus has survived the strange teleportation magic that overtook his new home country but now alongside his cousin Eris and their “infamous” partner Ruijerd, their travels only continue to push their survival abilities. The party now known as Dead End must push forward through the demon continent meeting old and new friends and overcoming extreme dangers that will test how much their skills have grown over the course of these several months. Each new event will get the party closer to Rudeus’ and Eris’ home but how will those same events change each of them? Rudeus will soon discover that growth comes from both success and failure in equal measure.

The second part of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation wasted no time continuing Rudeus’—Rudy—journey of both self-discovery and survival. Adding a new slew cast of characters and diving into some familiar ones, Jobless Reincarnation part 2 seemed more of the same which worried us at first. Thankfully, this second part proved that adding depth and character development is all that is necessary to make a powerful second arc of an already stellar anime. Here’s our review of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2!

A More Confident Rudeus

Rudy, in part 1 of Jobless Reincarnation, was still a young child—despite being the reincarnated soul of a thirty-year-old shut-in—and you could see that childish attitude in every action he took. In part 2, Rudy is a new child who is much more confident but still shows his flaws as a former introvert and bullied individual. As part 2 continues the adventures of Rudy and his allies, we begin to notice that while Rudy is still a huge pervert and still has some character flaws—he can be a bit overconfident in some situations—his personal journey has shaped him into a stronger soul. However, the end of this second part also proves that any individual growth can be undone with just the right losses and we can’t wait to see where this series takes our poor pervy Rudy.

The Damages Caused by That Magical Day

We knew that the teleportation magic that overtook the human realm was no joke but the first part of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation didn’t need to focus on that. As this second arc advances, we are reintroduced to several of Rudy’s former friends/family members and see just how damaging that magic was to the world. Not only were lives lost but many found themselves enslaved by strangers and forced to survive in a hellish place far from their homes. This revelation is what eventually humbles Rudy in many ways but it also shows the audience the dark side of Jobless Reincarnation and the world it is trying to build.

Are You Crying? We Are…

Here at Honey’s Anime, we can honestly say that anime affects us greatly and can push our emotions to their limits. Some of the episodes in part 2 aside from the ending few really made us bawl our eyes out! The reunion between Paul and Rudy was a spectacular moment in Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 and seeing Rudy lose more than he bargained for in the final few episodes was just painful and Earth-shattering. Is it possible for this series to continue producing even more content like part 2? We have no doubt it will but surpassing part 2 will be no easy feat!

Eris and Ruijerd’s Growth

Rudy wasn’t the only one with a lot of character development/growth in part 2. Eris and Ruijerd undergo some massive changes as individuals with Eris becoming more mature—as evident in the second to last episode of part 2 especially—and Ruijerd beginning to see that he can undo his race’s failures and infamy. Even Rudy’s master—Roxy—has a few dedicated episodes that show her past and how she’s come a long way thanks to Rudy’s nature and attitude rubbing off on her a bit. Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 did a stellar job exploring other characters and their personal stories of maturity which rarely isekai series are able to do.

Side Note, Paul Has Been Redeemed

Paul Greyrat was a focal part of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation as he was a pretty terrible father and person. Not only did he cheat on his wife with their maid but he seemed—at first—to just fall apart after the teleportation magic. However, part 2 wasted no time showing that underneath his immature and crass attitude lies a strong man who suffered in order to save not only his family but all those he was entrusted to protect. Paul isn’t such a bad guy in our eyes now but he still isn’t the best role model to have in the world of anime.

Final Thoughts

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 was an absolute phenomenal second outing for this isekai series. Not only did it retain all of what we loved in part 1 but it enhanced what made the initial season work so well and we couldn’t be happier with part 2. There was not a single episode in part 2 of Jobless Reincarnation that we didn’t enjoy and that is a rarity for not only an isekai anime but any anime second part in general.
