5. Barakamon

  • Episode: 10
  • Title: Let's Go Together

It's the end of the season. Sei Handa has started to open up to the community, and it is time for the annual festival! Sei finds himself in the company of neighborhood kiddos. Soon Handa is embroiled with festival activities well into the evening. Just when it seems like the day's fun is over, fireworks shoot from above! Though Sei's time in town looks like it is coming to an end, the memorable time at Sei's first festival is a joy for the whole village!

4. Konohana Kitan

  • Episode: 7
  • Title: Night of the Summer Festival

It's summer festival time! With dancing, games, music, and a brief excursion into the world of souls, our festival-loving fix girls reach the end of the night. The fireworks that Ren and Natsume get to see together at the festival are reminiscent of their meeting earlier on in life. As Ren watches from Natsume's shoulders, it seems that all of our favorite fox girls have somehow found themselves enjoying the fireworks display during their evening tasks. Like so many things about this anime, the fireworks display is one where the animators really took their time to make the frames beautiful.

3. Natsume Yuujinchou (Natsume's Book of Friends)

  • Episode: 13
  • Title: Autumn Banquet

In the last episode, Natsume finds himself looking for his ayakashi-kitty, Madera, who has gotten himself into trouble. Again. As things start getting crazy in a few of the festival stalls, Natsume rescues a small ayakashi who accidentally wandered into the festival without someone to keep an eye on them. Natsume and the small fox-girl enjoy the festival, while Madera continues to get into trouble. As the fox child rides on Natsume's back, the fireworks display starts up and catches everyone's attention. Like many other things about this season, Natsume and the ayakashi friends he makes are very sincerely enjoying their time together.

2. Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU)

  • Episode: 9
  • Title: For the Third Time, He Turns Back on the Path from Whence He Came

In My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, the tensions between Hachiman and Yukino get coupled under the ruse of buying fireworks and snacks together. The adorable and awkward moments are nonstop as Yukino and Hachiman enjoy the festival together with their shopping list in hand. As the sky gets dark and the fireworks light up the sky, the heroine and main character find an excellent spot with another friend! As they all watch the skies together, they contemplate the future and some complex relationships. The evening remains unusually close as our heroes learn unexpected things about their friends and begin to work through their feelings about that.

1. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Kaguya-sama: Love is War)

  • Episode: 12
  • Title: I Can't Hear the Fireworks Part 2, Kaguya Doesn't Want to Avoid Him

After a season of delightfully toying with Miyuki, Kaguya is restricted to her house on the day of the fireworks festival. At a real low point, our hero is left crying alone after escaping home, searching for her friends, and failing. After being unexpectedly swept away by the president, Kaguya is in the back of a speeding taxi with her friends and getting to see another fireworks display in a speeding car. The view was excellent, the locale was the back of a cab, and Miyuki got to see fireworks with friends. The time together meant so much to everyone that this one makes the top spot on our list!

Final Thoughts

Fireworks and summertime go together like peaches and cream. These fireworks-themed Episode have some sentimentality in time spent together and are a staple of the seasons with outdoor weather. Have you seen any of these yet? Which will you watch next? Please tell us in the comments!
