Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den chapter 34 started off on a great note to show the fate of Benki, Sanda, and Ryu. For his crimes, Ben finds himself sentenced to 200 years in prison and observation after said 200 years! Sanda and Ryu, luckily, get a forgiveness of sorts. Rather than being imprisoned too, they are to accompany a fellow samurai in his quest to find Hanaichi—who seems similar to Daruma—and capture him. Despite their parting, we’re sure our two new allies will once more meet Hachimaru later during his quest!
The story then shifts to a planet seemingly at peace, until a rather sudden attack happens. A young girl is saved by a group of samurai just before an attack is unleashed on the planet, destroying it all! The girl’s savior…just so happens to be Hanaichi, who the earlier samurai was looking for. The quest for the samurai keys seems to be getting underway and we can tell…some sides aren’t messing around during their search!
Our chapter wraps up with Hachimaru learning that he needs his master to wake up to obtain a much-needed key map. Thankfully, Daruma was prepared for a long rest and allows our cybernetic samurai to connect to him while he snoozes. Within Daruma, Hachimaru learns that the only way for him to grow as a samurai is to begin to train his inner stats—which are incredibly RPG orientated—which will help him in the search for the keys to Pandora’s Box! As the two wait for the lengthy map download, a stranger interrupts and we learn this being is known as The Warrior God…Fudo Myo-O! Needless to say, this was a pretty big chapter of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den and here are a few reasons why sleeping on this chapter might not be the best idea!
1. New Ally in Waiting?
Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den hasn’t shied away from showing dozens of characters in this epic series but we might finally see a new samurai main appear. Hanaichi might seem kind of goofy looking—more than Daruma is—but this cat-samurai might be a necessary warrior for our team! Now is this cat warrior strong? We can’t wait to find out!
2. Time to Grind!
Seeing Hachimaru’s stats versus Daruma’s was quite hysterical. Hachimaru has a lot to learn in terms of fighting—and maybe try to be more charismatic—but with Daruma guiding him it should be simple. However, that warrior god appearing inside Daruma does make us wonder if this will be how Hachimaru begins his quest to level up.
Final Thoughts
Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den 34 was all over the place but in a good way. Rather than spend hundreds of chapters on separate parts, Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den chapter 34 broke down big developments in an easy to understand way and we appreciated that. Now we have to wonder…what will happen next? We have gods appearing and planets being obliterated.
